unlikable characters
I tried to like the characters. I really tried. But alas, both women were unbearable. I'm all for the 'strong and sexy' type of women but these girls just seemed mean and rude. I found it hard to connect to their story and was bored of their struggles.

WOW! I really like this audiobook!
I had never heard of of this author but the storyline sounded interesting and I like the narrator's voice so I decided to give it a try. I liked it from the very beginning. I loved Kelly and all the swearing!! she was definitely my favorite. it really was a nice love story between a cold doctor and a foul mouthed Detective. ha. the dialogue was great and I really did like the narrator's voice a lot. I also liked how everything slowly built up before they finally had sex. nicely done!

Laugh Out Loud
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It's the perfect combination of a good story and great narrator. Kelly was written and performed with a fun sense of humor which had me laughing out loud on several occasions. Side note, as someone who listens to a lot of lesbian romance type novels I have grown tired of the common cliches in these books such as misunderstandings that lead to temporary break ups. There was absolutely none of that in this book. The story and the characters flowed naturally and organically, fears and all.

Not for me
I wanted this book to be amazing. I kept waiting and hoping. But, alas, it missed the mark. At least, it missed my mark. It was slow and choppy. So many sub-stories with so many pertinent secondary characters made it seem unable to really find a single cohesive theme. The chemistry between the two main characters eventually works, but again it was very slow coming. And the ending was highly disappointing for me. Highly. Maybe because it’s “book 1” and there will be additional books, I don’t know. But this was a long audiobook that I for the first time ever, found myself fast forwarding in so many spots I lost count. I don’t feel it was a waste of money, but it certainly wasn’t one my favorite books of this genre.

I enjoyed the story and the premises behind it, however, I think a different performer would have been better. As a medical professional, it would be better to have someone who knows how to pronounce the medical jargon. Just a thought.

Sorry, not sorry
An enjoyable story line centered around two strong people in their own right dropping barriers and opening up enough to find something special. Well written. However, I just had a difficult time dealing with the Kelly character. I just really don't like that personality type and would not be around anyone like that in real life. The performance was decent. I'm not sorry for the experience. Looking forward to other KD Williamson books!
