I was really excited for this novel because I love Alison Hammond and her sunshine personality. She is so funny and also very warm from her TV personality. That said, this novel was just okay. It felt like the plot/story was maybe enough for a novella with a lot of background description and details added to pad it out to book-length.
It was hard to get into the story itself because every single side-character was given so much background story it interrupted the flow of the story and scenes. I didn't need to know what high school the choir director's assistant went to, I just needed the conversation between them to move the plot forward.
