Harmony House is more than a “special place for special people.” It’s a think tank where high-functioning autistic savants harness their unique abilities for the benefit of society. Resident Eddie Parks’s contribution: an “echo box” that can re-create never-recorded sounds using acoustic archeology. All Eddie wants is to hear his late mother’s voice. But what he’s created is inadvertently posing a threat to national security. To Harmony House’s shadowy government backers and radical extremists, the echo box is the ultimate intelligence asset - an end to the very concept of secrecy.

Publisher's Summary
An Amazon Charts bestseller.
There’s more than one way to stoke the flames of revenge...
Charlotte Rowe spent the first seven years of her life in the hands of the only parents she knew - a pair of serial killers who murdered her mother and tried to shape Charlotte in their own twisted image. Instead, her real father exploited her tabloid-ready story for fame and profit - until Charlotte finally broke free from her ghoulish past and fled. Just when she thinks she has buried her personal hell forever, Charlotte is swept into a frightening new ordeal. Secretly dosed with an experimental drug, she’s endowed with a shocking new power - but pursued by a treacherous corporation desperate to control her.
Except from now on, if anybody is going to control Charlotte, it’s going to be Charlotte herself. She’s determined to use the extraordinary ability she now possesses to fight the kind of evil that shattered her life - by drawing a serial killer out from the shadows to face the righteous fury of a victim turned avenger.

Worth a listen
But not particularly memorable. The story is compelling, with lots of action, but the characters are rather 2 dimensional. I wasn’t fussed with the narrator...all the men had the same voice, but I got used to her.

Superhuman miracle drug!
So I'm not real sure how I feel about this book. It had a lot of potential but somewhere along the way I derailed.
The publisher's description sets up a story of a very traumatized young woman with PTSD. When her psychiatrist gives her an antidepressant (it's not) she instead gets superhuman strength that lasts for three hours. There's a lot of other things going on but that's pretty much the gist of the story. She's a guinea pig and he wants to study her.
I guess I was looking for a little more reality and a little less Marvel. The book is enjoyable and I did finish it. I think it could have gone into the background more and fleshed out the characters better.
I don't think this it worth a credit but if it were on sale it's entertaining if not believable.
Lauren Enzo does a very good job narrating.

A worthwhile listen with only minor issues
This is a great story with a good pacing and fun twists and turns. A realistic superhero tale. The secondary characters aren't bad, but feel a bit wooden and stereotypical (manly man, strong confident woman, evil bad guy). The main character does progress nicely through the story and by the end she is much more well rounded and likable. Fair warning to all listeners and readers, there are a lot and I mean a lot of references to abuse, especially rape and emotional abuse. Its seems to be brought up in some way about every half hour or so. Its important to the story, but the frequency that it gets talked about is jarring to say the least. As a primary reason for the character's actions it's a good plot device, however after awhile I just wanted them to get on with the story instead of trying to raise awareness about the altered mental states of abuse victims. With that in mind give it a read or a listen. It's an enjoyable journey most of the time.

Really good story
Would you consider the audio edition of Bone Music to be better than the print version?
No - the voice of the narrator can be distracting at times. My main issue is the way she reads different voices, particularly male voices. Generally, she does a very good job, but I found that every time she did a male voice, it distracted me somewhat and pulled me out of the story a bit. I wasn't quite as immersed in it as I like to be. All in all, her performance is quite good, but a male narrator for those parts would have been better.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bone Music?
I really appreciate the moment early on in the story when the main character stops being a victim and hiding from the world and realizes she can do amazing things.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes it did.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Victim or vigilante?
Any additional comments?
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the genre. Narrator does a very good job considering her task. One person reading all voices in a story is not easy to do and make the story believable.

Bone Music
This is a HUGE leap outside my comforts zone, but I LOVED it! I love how fast pasted it was, how invested I got in the character. Charlotte Rowe has NOT had an easy life and I enjoyed the heck out of reading about her story. How she was cooping or not cooping, what she wished was different but how it couldn’t be. I just liked her character and the narrator I loved, I enjoyed the almost two tones she did when she was on the medication and when she wasn’t it was really awesome. It is a little on the suspense side, and a lot on the mystery of things but it sure is packed with vivid imagery I could almost see it and feel it. I don’t have a point of reference because I read romance and this wasn’t that. I don’t know if this was Thriller enough for some but it was for me. So I have no idea if this was good to other just that I know I enjoyed it and would keep reading the series.

Bone Music is a Dirge
I got the feeling I was hearing/listening to a script for a movie instead of the pages of a book. There was way too much unnecessary, very detailed dialogue. In fact more than an hour + of reading could be deleted which would have enhanced my enjoyment of the plot. Too much dialogue became boring. The plot was unique and well thought out; but the story could have been better edited.
