Publisher's Summary

Maren Yearly is a young woman who wants the same things we all do. She wants to be someone people admire and respect. She wants to be loved. But her secret, shameful needs have forced her into exile. She hates herself for the bad thing she does, for what it's done to her family and her sense of identity; for how it dictates her place in the world and how people see her - how they judge her. She didn't choose to be this way.

Because Maren Yearly doesn't just break hearts, she devours them. Ever since her mother found Penny Wilson's eardrum in her mouth when Maren was just two years old, she knew life would never be normal for either of them. Love may come in many shapes and sizes, but for Maren, it always ends the same-with her hiding the evidence and her mother packing up the car.

But when her mother abandons her the day after her 16th birthday, Maren goes looking for the father she has never known, and finds much more than she bargained for along the way.

Faced with a world of fellow eaters, potential enemies, and the prospect of love, Maren realizes she isn't only looking for her father, she's looking for herself.

Camille DeAngelis' Bones & All is an astonishingly original coming-of-age tale that is at once a gorgeously written horror story as well as a mesmerizing meditation on female power and sexuality.

Editorial Review

On the outside, Maren Yearly, the protagonist of Camille DeAngelis’s Alex Award-winning Bones & All, appears to be the picture of a typical 16-year-old—a girl yearning to be loved, accepted and respected. There’s just one thing standing in her way. Unfortunately, that thing has turned her into an outcast and forced her into hiding. Maren isn’t your typical teenager—she’s a cannibal.

A girl with a voracious appetite for human flesh and blood? That’s a tough pill for anyone to swallow but especially for Maren’s mother, who discovered a little girl’s ear in her daughter’s mouth when she was only two years old. From that day, Maren’s mother knew their lives would never be normal.

When her mother abandons her one day after her 16th birthday, Maren decides to pick up and start over. She begins the long and perilous journey of searching for a mysterious stranger she has never met: her father. While on the road, hopefully figuring out who she truly is meant to be, she meets other cannibals—fierce rivals except for Lee.

Beautifully narrated by Julia Knippen, Bones & All is a stunning coming-of-age audiobook with touches of horror, humour, and romance. Add to your wishlist and listen to this young adult love story here on Audible before you watch— Bones & All is now a major motion picture starring Taylor Russell as Maren Yearly and Timothée Chalamet as her fellow cannibal and love interest, Lee.

Bones and all

Could be better. Could have broken her pattern with lee. Could be more
Romantic and queer like the film. Lee could be the one person she got
Close to that she chose not to eat and only
Had to when he was dying ergo
A tragic tale but more so than what we have in the book whilst still being more meaningful
Voice was calm tho not my favourite

Better than the movie

Loved it so very much. It was way better than the movie. I wonder why the movie deviated so much from the plot?
