makes me worry

It felt like there are two pieces of advice in this book.
if you have BPD, get help. if you don't have BPD, have very little to do with people who do have it.
hopefully no one I know reads this book, something something fear of abandonment.
it is really more complicated than that, or more nuanced, but that, I feel, is the meat and potatoes of the book.

Way too much

Overload of background, symptoms described ad nauseum. And not much helpful information except “get counseling”.

Not a fan! At All!

hated it, actually. it's fatalistic. most times after reading, I felt hopeless about the condition. they give examples of the most exaggerated worst-case scenario, which makes one feel that's the life one should expect to have. Considering that BPD does not have a "cure" this book's approach is incredibly depressing. Very unhelpful. I definitely do not recommend it! I was reading another book simultaneously, and there's a marked difference in approach. The other book lets you understand that you have a disorder and there's hope. this book makes you feel like it's only a matter of time until you start behaving like these extreme examples they've given. The problem is not the disorder but the approach!

This is a very good overview of the subject of borderline personality

Gets into the causes of BPD, but more importantly, describe the effects of borderline personality disorder, and how this affects the person, struggling with that, or a person to live with someone struggling with BPD, it is written at a level that is easy to understand for the lay person and is interesting enough to complete.
