Publisher's Summary

The collapse of modern societies has begun. That is the conclusion of two years of research by the interdisciplinary team behind Breaking Together.

How did it come to this? Because monetary systems caused us to harm each other and nature to such an extent it broke the foundations of our societies. So what should we do? This audiobook describes people allowing the full pain of our predicament to liberate them into living more courageously and creatively. They demonstrate we can be breaking together, not apart, in this era of collapse.

Jem Bendell argues that reclaiming our freedoms is essential to soften the fall and regenerate the natural world. Escaping the efforts of panicking elites, we can advance an ecolibertarian agenda for both politics and practical action in a broken world.

flower generation comment

The flower generation... i.e., hippy days,, was one of the best times for humanity. In almost all cases, middle finger salutes were often accompanied by another finger that signaled peace, a sign well deserved in the Age of Aquarius, where harmony and understanding were rewarded by unexpected successes.. Unfortunately, the powers that be prevailed, and the flowers inevitably withered. In probable fact, the flower people became the power people, and the blossoms that promised an age of wisdom never did bloom again. I know, I was there... Jean Turcot

Profoundly Important and Impactful

Either this book changes your life or you are not paying attention. Bendell's thesis, that we are in the foothills of the collapse of modern societies based upon a model of unbounded growth are deeply researched, profound and irrefutable. the implications are stark. the question of how we respond in the face of this analysis is wide reaching and drives to the core of how we wish to live and express our humanity in this new Era. Informed by the author's own journey of soul searching this book is touching, profound, challenging and carries the impact of a freight train.
