Ben

Spark of Hope: A bi-weekly trauma support group. This is my nightmare. When I think of a support group, I think of sad people sitting around talking about their feelings and nothing changing.

And yet, when my brother and his best friend, who happens to be a therapist, presented the idea of holding the meetings at my gym, I caved.

Because I, Benjamin Price, have always tried to rescue the people in my life. But I can't. I've usually failed them.

Now, I'm hosting a trauma support group and desperately trying not to fall into my old habits—of attempting to save everyone.

And then, he walks in. Bruised. But not broken. No matter how exhausted he may feel, a strength in him calls to me.

And there's no way I can ignore the need deep inside me to at least try.

Colby

I'm tired. I'm afraid. And I don't want to go back. Not to the abusive relationship I told myself I was okay with for years.

But what am I supposed to do?

I have no real life skills. All my life, I've been told I'm pretty and that's it. Then I walk into a gym, looking for a job, but I find so much more.

I don't want to trust Ben. I don't believe his help doesn't come with a price. But what choice do I really have?

One thing's for sure: neither of us are getting out of this intact. What we lose though, that's anyone's guess.

Bruised But Not Broken is set around a trauma support group and will, therefore, touch on extremely sensitive subjects. The author handles these topics with care and healing, but please heed this trigger warning should it apply to you.

I love this book so much especially the story and characters!

it's one of most non toxic M/M audiobook I've listened to.

the narrations did sometimes confused me that I would get the POV mixed up but overall I loved the book that I can't wait to start the next book in the series!

10/10

Overall the book was pretty good. I just got a bit frustrated with some of the side chars and people's reactions to stuff. Therapist, people don't owe you outing everyone's trauma, issues, struggles etc. It's their business and making a friend feel crappy for not divulging other people's personal lives to you is a super crappy move. Wife, for real? Zero real guilt remorse or any sort of emotion that showed any sort of true feelings for Ben despite being married a decade and then claiming to be a friend when you show up with news your already jumping into a new marriage. I'd of thrown her out of the gym and said kick rocks. You don't get to have to have an affair, divorce, jump into a new marriage, show back up in their life and act like you did almost nothing wrong.

Roman is very much a dick. And pulls alot of crap that deserves to get slapped up side the head for or partly cut off for. I was kind of worried there would be the dreaded third act breakup/get back together. Thankfully there wasn't which was insanely nice.

Over all good book, I just wouldn't mind seeing one of more of these "friends" fall down the stairs a time or two for karmic justice for being kinda crappy people.

A bit flat and frustrating

Still as good as it was the first time around. Only issue I have is the narrators need to switch characters. I just feel like the voices don’t match and would match better switched. That is all.

I enjoyed this book, but I agree with the other reviews: the voices should have been switched, or another narrator should have voiced Ben. Not that the actual narrator was bad, I actually thought he was great, but for me, the voice didn't go with how I pictured Ben according to his description, so it clashed in my mind.

The story was touching and flowed well. There was no big angst, but it moved smoothly enough to keep me listening.

Touching story

the narrators should have shaped roles, loved it otherwise, the store was beautiful. it was an amazing preforance.
