Great story and plot

The narrator is great, a lot of suspense. More like a Dexter theme. Loved it!

Twist and turns

Good story. Didn’t think much of it at first but, it grew on me toward the last third of it. I think the author revealed the detective too soon in the plot. Should of held out a slight bit more.

Refreshing look into a criminal mind

Story leads you through the twisted but very smart mind of a police detective. Excellent suspense and plot twists. Great performance.

Too Dark For Comfort

This book - written from the perspective of a Police Officer who is secretly a serial killer - describes a reasonably captivating Cat & Mouse game between a confused sociopath with a jawdropping home life and cartoonishly "professional" (almost willfully blind) law enforcement. Tom Abraham's vocabulary & prose is capable, his understanding of psychopathology is creditable, the plotting in this story is well-planned & well-delivered, and tension & suspense are palpable.
Less fortunately, the inner dialogue from the perpetrator is obviously unhinged - but Abraham's way of describing day-to-day life in Houston implies a seediness that almost makes his homicidal urges seem reasonable. Officer 'John Druitt' is witness to such horrors that he comes across as waaaay too sympathetic.

As to presentation: Audible Studios provides exemplary technical support to reader Jason Culp. Sound quality is impeccable (with seamless splicing of re-recorded segments, for example), and - while reading a little bit too slowly & with uninspired voice-acting - Culp delivers spot-on diction, timbre, and cadence.. as well as pitch-perfect tone.

Altogether, 'Buffalo Bayou' rates 7.5/10-stars. If you can get it as a 'Plus' selection (as I did), definitely spend the time on it. Should they ask for a Credit, however, less disturbing Mystery-Thriller options beckon.

Didn’t want to finish it

I forced myself to keep listening just to see if it would ever get better. So predictable and completely unbelievable.
