And when an unknown danger starts closing in on Harper, it seems that Knox is the only one who can keep her safe.

As Prime of his Las Vegas lair and a successful businessman, Knox Thorne is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Harper. He'll have her, and he'll keep her safe from the threat that looms over her. Because Knox protects what's his. He won't allow anyone to take her from him. Great story, Terrible Narrator

I really enjoyed the story but the narrator made it sound like a bunch of children in very adult situations. I found it very uncomfortable and annoying to listen to. The story itself was good. I love Suzanne Wright but I will never listen to anything by Cat Doucette again.

Not a bad story but the voice actress is awful

The story it’s self is fairly good, and I really like Suzanne Wright. But the narrator sucks, the voices of Harper’s friends all sound like spoiled bratty children. Not like the grown women that they are. Harper’s voice is manageable but I often had a hard time listening to the story because I was focused on how whiny and childlike the voices are.

Great story, not so great narration

The narrator chose these whiny very long drawn out voices for every character. It makes a good story hard to get through.

Like the book

I enjoyed the audiobook but not the narrator. She makes Rainie sound like an airhead and a lot of the times she didn’t do voices for others that were consistent and it was difficult to know who was supposed to be talking.

The voices ..I just couldn't do it

So I appreciate the challenge of having to manage multiple distinct voices including many not your own gender; however, the more I listened, the more painful it became.

I will admit, I find it cringey enough to listen to audio of any erotic moment when the man is played by a woman. But in this case, it was just bad. It just sounds like the main character is being played by a bad rendition of a Batman voice who is trying far too hard to talk sexy. And the other main characters' voice was very whiny sounding.

The story wasn't bad. It had some good ideas, but in my opinion, the pure male dominance was a little too much when it came to him not giving her a choice of whether she wanted sex. That's a personal note. I just don't think making THAT notion sexy should ever be promoted.

really interesting but the voices are a challenge

the stories really good it's really interesting but it's all detracted by the strange choices the narrator has made I'm not certain why cat Doucet chose to go with such immature and awkward vocal options throughout this story but it's a major to traction and deterrent throughout the story you will have to take a few moments periodically to accept that she has trouble sticking with the same voice for each character and to noting the difference between the human and the demon when speaking Knox in particular has about four different tones or pitches throughout the entire series sadly there do detract.

however the story is good enough that despite these particular floss it was worth continuing in finishing I would actually highly recommend this story to anyone it's a really good time it's fun and it's very fascinating I'm only real problem is just the narration could have been better but the story is one that I'll return to and despite my grievance I didn't stop listening to and will probably listen to again.

love the story but not the narrator

loved the books, have read and re-read them. I was so excited to see this narration available but was disappointed in the narrator's portrayal of Harper. Harper is played out as so whiny and valley high-esque when Harper in the book is supposed to be a non chalant bad a$$. so disappointed.

I just can't with this narrator

This narrator makes the women in this book sound like drunks or teenagers. The men fair no better ... I just can't the book may be good but I can't get past this voice.

I believe authors should have a lot of say in who narrates their books for them because they can make or break a book

I really enjoyed the story but the narrator was ba

I really like the story but the narrator suck so bad. Nothing worse then listening to child and kid like voices curse like a sailor and listening to kid voices have sex. The kiddie whiny annoying voices made it feel like I was listening to a 50 year old man rape a 9 year old girl. I am so sorry to have to put it that way but that is just how awful the narration was. The author wrote a good story I was intrigued following a long. I couldn't put it down I really enjoyed the story. I liked it a lot I just hated the narration it could have been so much more so much better with the narrator not using kiddie voices

Meh

If you like erotica then this book is great, the sex scenes are really well done, however this is under the paranormal romance section . Overall it was a sprinkling of half-hearted story between sex scenes. The romantic development was way too fast and thus made it difficult to invest in. Side charters lacked depth, and the storyline itself was rushed and without real development. Everything revolved around the sex scenes and while I'm all for a good one, if that's all the book is, might as well watch porn... Waste of a credit.

Interesting

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

shorten book by a good hour or two, mostly by removing the excess sex. More attention on characters and their abilities.

What didn’t you like about Cat Doucette’s performance?

A better narrator would have helped this book. The voice she uses for Harper is whinny and annoying. Cat reminds me of a mix of Tanya Eby and an early version of Angela Dawe. Too sing-song and up and down excitement on words that didn't need it.
Male voices were poor and irritating.

Any additional comments?

I like Suzanne Wright, which is why I got this book even tho the comments about the narrator almost stopped my. The first 2 chapters were the most difficult to get thru before I was able to adjust to the narrator. However, there was too much "sex" as a filler to lengthen the book, and would have much preferred more info on different demons and abilities would have been more interesting to me.

WHAT DID THEY DO!!!

What would have made Burn better?

Not having ridiculous voices. They were like cartoon voices (especially Harper's friends and family) and why on earth was Harper made to sound like a whiney 13 year old? WHY!

What did you like best about this story?

The story is amazing.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cat Doucette’s performances?

Most likely not - I would be very suspicious of any her performances if they all resemble this.

Ugh. Narrator Performance Sucks!!😒

I've read this book twice and like the series so far but the narrator for this book did not do the heroine just. She made her sound all whinny where she supposedly has a nonchalant attitude about herself. This narrator has really ruin the story for me. I don't think I will order the next books of the series if she will be narrating them.

Disappointed

What disappointed you about Burn?

The language was crude. There was a distinct lack of descriptive language. Even the sexual scenes were poorly described and were exceptionally repetitive.

Would you ever listen to anything by Suzanne Wright again?

No.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator made the main female character sound petulant and adolescent.

What character would you cut from Burn?

The characters all made sense, it was the overall writing and performance that I did not enjoy.

One of the worst narrator's I've heard

TERRIBLE narrator. She detracted from the story and I was extremely disappointed to see that she narrates the entire series. It's infuriating when a good story is performed by an awful narrator.

The story started out great, AMAZING. I thought I finally found a PNR with a legitimately strong female character. Then the lead protagonist went from being strong and independent, basing her decisions on her own happiness to being reduced to a scared insecure girl. This could have been an awesome story with a few tweaks. Disappointing. I definitely wanted him to crack her, but not in the way it happened. Her overtly hinting that she wasnt rejected him because it's what she wanted but because "hed just get tired of her and she couldn't blame him". HE FUCKING BRANDED HER and her concern was thinking "it annoyed him" for her to have his brand on her versus the fact that he branded her when they had no emotional bond or relationship whatsoever.

What's more infuriating is that every single PNR I've read with female protagonists like this (insecure, low self worth, self debasing, their entire self image being based on what a man thinks? etc.) are all written by women.
