Despite the energy crackling between them, the gorgeous sports writer is a no-strings, no-kids kind of guy. And Serafine, raised in the foster system, intends to be a foster parent herself. She won’t compromise that dream, even for a man as annoyingly appealing as Tyler.

In a simpler world, Tyler would already have gotten Serafine out of his system. For him, women equal fun. Not this kind of bone-deep, disconcerting desire. Life gets even more complicated when he becomes the guardian of his much younger sister. Suddenly, he’s way out of his depth. Serafine’s the only person who can connect with Kylie. He can’t jeopardize that for a fling.

But maybe...just maybe...he’s finally ready to risk everything on forever.

The story is great, I loved it, but the guy that narrated it had terrible voices for everyone other than the main character! Like joltingly terrible! Disruptively terrible! But the story is really fantastic!!

Terrible voice acting for all but the main character

I didn’t care for the narrator. His portrayal of the Female and child voices were poorly done with a very strange cadence and intonation. Story line was ok but it was drawn out way more than it needed to be. Her other books are better than this one.

I listened to the first one and it was perfect this one, Seraphim isn't sultry Cajun she's southern. amd Via isn't a composed classy lady she's loud and off putting. Matty sounds like mental patient. I'll finish it because it's a good story but this guy is a poor choice to narrate.

Just like all of Cara Bastone’s works I found this one charming. I don’t agree with others about the voice actor, I thought he did an admirable job with difficult material. He had to do Brooklyn and NOLA accents, as well as voices for a midwestern teenage girl and a young Brooklyn boy. No small feat. All in all I think he did well and I was able to fully immerse myself in the story by the end of chapter two. I highly recommend it in concert with Cara Bostone’s other books in this series which all weave together nicely while still standing independently.

This story had depth and dug into serious introspection from the characters that were very well written. My only complaint was that the performer has such a wonderful voice, and I found all the main character portrayals were just fine, but the portrayal of Matty made him seem much younger than 7, Sebastian always sounded mean and angry, and Violeta sounded younger than Matty and very whiney. Wish the performer was allowed to speak closer to his own voice as he has wonderful tone and cadence to his voice.
