Publisher's Summary

Rumors of the seemingly magical victory that allowed the Exodus of Israelites from Egypt have resonated through the archaeological world for decades. Now evidence has been discovered that explains how the ancient Hebrews destroyed the unstoppable army of Pharaoh - a tribe of warriors who disappeared after the destruction of the City of Jericho, taking with them the most valued treasures of a people without a homeland. Today a treasure of a different kind is unearthed at the lost ruins of Jericho, one that will change the history of God’s Chosen people for all time - the petrified remains of an animal that could not exist. Enter the Event Group. Led by Col. Jack Collins, the Group's brilliant men and women gather to discover the truth behind not only the Exodus, but also the magnificent animals that led the defeat of Pharoah’s army. On a whirlwind race to save the most valuable treasure and artifacts in the history of the world from those who would destroy them, the Event Group will come face to face with every myth, legend, and historical truth that has ever unfolded in the mythic and larger-than-life Carpathians - or as the area was once known - Transylvania, the land of Vlad the Impaler.

So there really are critters out there!!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Edit. Edit. Edit.A good iteration of the Event Group series, but goodness it seems so stretched out.

Would you recommend Carpathian to your friends? Why or why not?

You really need to be into The Event Group to get into this series, so that would dramatically limit exposure. That said, I would , given this context.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scenes in the Carpathian Mountains are pretty compelling.

Could you see Carpathian being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

Good performance of a book that needs ALOT of EDITING. Seems like the author was throwing everything they had into it to stretch it out, for whatever reason.
I tolerated it, but did I mention EDITING?
Still, entertaining, and a good addition to the series.Recommended in context.

Well beyond the suspension of disbelief

Let me start by saying Richard Poe's narration is masterful. The story telling is excellent.

That being said, I can't bring myself to believe for one second that the secrets those people were protecting in that mountain they'd just suddenly give up willy neely. And go so far with being fine with destroying them for all time. Ain't no way...

Also, there was nothing that I heard in this 23hr duration that couldn't have been done in 12. Seemed like it was stretched out for no real reason.

For those reasons I gave it 3 stars.

How does the author do it?

The books in the series just keep getting better. The right mix of history, fiction and character development makes the reader want for more...just like an addict. If you are new to the series be sure you start with the first book and follow in the sequence. Wonderfully narrated too. What a team!

Great as always

But I have to say it took so much longer getting to the revealing part of the mysteries and climax than usual. While answering all questions and such, it felt really delayed.

I enjoyed it very much. A real page turner.

A lot of characters to keep up with though. And although it would be impossible to film this story, I need a visual on the nail biting rescue and escape of the crumbling structure, the storm, the flood and the cars. How they didn't drown. A keeper.

Big bad wolf ate all 3 pigs!

Golemon has become a better writer with every book. I enjoy how he incorporates history and fiction for a harmonious theme. His characters have grown to become extremely in depth and personality. His plots flow well. His characters don't break their true callings even in the face of death. He never abandons his characters depths.
I labeled his books as good in earlier parts of the series but he has become a prime writer in my search for books.

Good story idea, horrible writing

This was so hard to listen to. the characters (if they even be called that) are stereotypes I didn't even want to get to know.

This is an example of a great story idea the author flubbed in a colossal way. I came to despise the phrase "black on black movement".

Characters fall into the deepest lives of their lives in about 10 minutes. it's ridiculous.

Save yourself some time. pass it up.

what goes up must come down

As usual, this next book in the series didn't disappoint with the many twists and turns in the plot. I also enjoyed the irony of the ending, and the hook for the next book. Really didn't want to put it down when I started listening.

A great mixture of SiFi & old school spooky.

Secret agent science fiction storyline runs head on into ancient Egypt and the Old Testament diaspora with added twist of geopolitics and 1930s golden age Hollywood horror. The narrator , in tone and tambour always creates a an atmosphere that makes you want to leave a light on at night but in the most suspenseful and satisfying way.

Really good one in this series!

Ok, I didn’t like the last book in this series, but this one makes up for it big time! I think I enjoyed this one the most so far. Hope the rest of the series is as good!
