Publisher's Summary

The national best seller

Hilarious best friends Cat and Nat created a massive online community of moms by sharing their ultra-real and just a bit R-rated dispatches from the mom trenches. From what not to eat a few days after giving birth (chicken wings) to the most effective ways to dodge post-partum sex, Cat & Nat’s Mom Truths shares everything no one will tell you about having kids.

Mixing memoir, humor, and advice, Cat and Nat tell never-before-told stories about the stress, guilt, joy, and laundry (oh the laundry!) of being a mom in their first book. With seven kids between them and millions of fans on social media, they get real about the parts of parenting that somehow don’t make the Instagram feed. Sharing their outrageous humor, fearless myth-busting, and genuine comfort, they walk you from pregnancy to the toddler years and beyond. And they dole out ridiculously honest advice, like what you think you need at the hospital when you have your first baby (lip gloss) versus what you actually need (hemorrhoid pillow), and how worried you should really be about germs (less than you are). Fearless crusaders against the perfection myth and all the gluten-free, sugar-free baking it entails, Cat and Nat assure you that you’re already doing a great job, making this an essential companion for moms everywhere.

What the critics say

"Accept the chaos, embrace the mom bod and stress less about germs, among other things. That's courtesy of Catherine Belknap and Natalie Telfer, friends from high school who reconnected as first-time mothers. Parenting books left them feeling like they already blew it, the writers said, so they looked elsewhere for affirmation." (Wall Street Journal)

"What do new mothers need the most? Sleep, for one. But after sleep, they need good friends, people to let them know they aren't alone in this strange new world they are navigating. Enter Catherine Belknap and Natalie Telfer.... Their new book is funny, honest, and encouraging." (New York Post

Enjoyable and eye opening

Enjoyed SO MUCH. As a mom myself it was really refreshing to hear from other Canadian moms about there experiences and advice.

boring to the max, almost annoying.

tried to finish...hated every line bc it was so boring. Maybe just maybe ...if you just had a baby a couple of days ago....maybe you'd find it better...but 10 years in baby making mode, this chick rates this book as completely vanilla.

Must Read ! No BS, funny and real

I wish I had this book before becoming a Mom. I would have felt less alone.
Cat and Nat share their personal experiences with brutal honesty and a lot of humour, and by doing so they expose the raw and often contradictory emotions that go along with motherhood. This book is a modern narrative filled with ancient wisdom.
Love the audiobook, it felt like I was sitting at a kitchen table with some girlfriend. Unfiltered, raw and full of laughter.

Pretty good

I like to listen to books that bring mothers up. The daily grind of motherhood can be tiresome and it's encouraging to read books about other moms and hearing like-minded thoughts. I feel less alone now.

Thought it would be funnier

It is funny but for the most part it’s preachy. Can’t get over the nasty attitude toward the talky Play date Mom. I am THAT mom. Sometimes play dates are the only interaction with adults I ever get. How about a little understanding for the socially awkward mom?

Not truths- stereotypical hype

If you like to hear two ladies complain about the same things over and over again....men suck, dont judge other moms like I have, I do all the work, this sucks, that sucks, then this might be the book for you. It may be funny for one off stories, but compiled into a book it becomes clear these ladies are caddy and shallow.

Disappointing

I think this book is good but definitely not great. I admit, I did not finish it, but decided to return it. Maybe Bossypants caused me to set the bar too high. Maybe my entrance into motherhood was too many years ago. This book is casual and a lot like listening to good friends. I just prefer the ones I have in real life.

Great fun read

The book was interesting and I love that the authors both read it. I 100% disagree with the sex chapter though. I do not like how they gave women ideas on how to blow off their husbands about sex. Yes, sex immediately after having a baby needs to wait and men need to be patient. No one should be having sex until they are ready and healed up. Sex is a very important part of a relationship though for both parties involved. I loved the book except that one chapter.

Truthful Horrifying and Wonderful!

This book was honest and provided some of the many horrors mothers encounter. At the same time, a wonderful read straight from Cat and Nat. They made me feel less of a failure and that I am not alone. I would love to hear more about the transitioning from childhood into adolescence of their children and how the experience was for Cat and Nat.

enjoyable

Really enjoyed quite a few of the anecdotes. I wasn't 100% onboard with some aspects, but the introduction was written clearly enough that I knew what kind of book I was getting into. I had not heard of them prior to this, so this was my very entry into their world. Overall, I did not think it was a waste. I'm not certain I would hurry to listen again, but I'm glad I stumbled upon and was able to connect at a mom level.
