Publisher's Summary

New York Times bestselling master of suspense Jeffery Deaver unveils the secrets of a marriage when a husband decides to investigate his wife’s death in this gripping short story.

Jon Talbot is a history professor who makes sense of the past by examining facts. He also knows how to speculate about the what-ifs. Jon’s doing both following the death of his wife, Pax. Driving home late from a volunteer assignment, she plunged off a mountain highway and died. The police find nothing suspicious about the facts: a deer in the road, a blown tire, a broken neck. But the what-ifs are leading Jon down a twisting trail of secrets. After five years of marriage, he is finally getting to know his wife.

Good Quick Listen

I liked the plot on this one. The book had a couple of elements that are particularly interesting to me. I thought it was well done for a shorter story. The characters are mostly likable but I liked them even more based on what they did/who they were at the ending. This is not edge-of-your seat exciting but easily kept my interest.

doesn't get much better

first I'd like to point out that the performance was Superior. I've probably listened to over 50 audible books and I would say this is number one performance.

as for the short story perhaps one of the best I've ever listened to. incredible twists and turns which I did not see coming. that's all that needs to be said. sit back and enjoy your listen.

My first Jeffery Deaver

This was my first book I've read by Jeffrey. The storyline for me started off a little slow. But it did gradually get a lot better. This will be such a surprised outcome.
Thanks

Learning Who the Wife Really Was

This was another great short story from author Jeffrey Deaver. I enjoy his short stories and his incredible twists. Nothing is ever as it seems in his books and this is no exception. A professor begins to suspect that the accident that killed his wife was no accident and begins to play detective to find out. That gets him into trouble. An entertaining short story, wonderfully narrated by Scott Merriman on audio.
