This is a story about two teens falling in love over a summer that throws everything possible to keep them apart. Max: Chill. Sports. Gay and not a big deal. And a secret: An encounter with an older kid that makes it hard to breathe, one that he doesn't want to think about, ever. Jordan: The opposite of chill. Poetry. His "wives" and the Chandler Mall. Never been kissed and searching for Mr. Right, who probably won't like him anyway. And a secret: A spiraling out of control mother, and the knowledge that he's the only one who can keep the family from falling apart.

This program includes a bonus conversation with the author.
A trans boy determined to prove his gender to his traditional Latinx family summons a ghost who refuses to leave in Aiden Thomas' paranormal YA debut Cemetery Boys, described by Entertainment Weekly as "groundbreaking".
Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can't get rid of him.
When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his true gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend, Maritza, he performs the ritual himself and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free.
However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school's resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He's determined to find out what happened and tie off some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian so they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave.

A Macmillan Audio production from Swoon Reads
"The novel perfectly balances the vibrant, energetic Latinx culture while delving into heavy topics like LGBTQ+ acceptance, deportation, colonization, and racism within authoritative establishments." (TeenVogue.com)
"This stunning debut novel from Thomas is detailed, heart-rending, and immensely romantic. I was bawling by the end of it, but not from sadness: I just felt so incredibly happy that this queer Latinx adventure will get to be read by other kids. Cemetery Boys is necessary: For trans kids, for queer kids, for those in the Latinx community who need to see themselves on the page. Don’t miss this book." (Mark Oshiro, author of Anger Is a Gift)

Just amazing!
The diversity in this book is spectacular, from the LGTBQ+ characters to the representation of Latin American cultures and religions. The book shows not only diversity but also the struggles that people face, and all that while telling an addictive story. Yadriel's life was already difficult with his community of brujex not accepting who he truly is, but summoning the wrong spirit takes it to the next level. The story, the romance, the exploration of Latin Culture and especially Dia De Los Muertos made me enjoy every minute of this book.
A 5-star book, without a doubt.

A New LGBTQ+ Story
This book was a required a reading for my university course, but it became so much more than that. Cemetery Boys moves beyond the expected coming out narrative that's apparent in a lot of LGBTQ+ YA coming of age stories. Through the use of supernatural events, the book tackles complex ideas about gender and sexuality. This story is full of love, magic, culture, and nuance; Read it! (Or listen to it in this case)

Really enjoyed it! Very organic real characters amazing representation with many lgbtq characters. I would note that if you don’t speak any Spanish you might find a few lines confusing but even with my very limited Spanish I followed along just fine. The narrators voice perfectly suited the characters I Would highly recommend!

The kind of story you can't put down!
I'm going to be thinking about this book for a long time to come. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into this world of ghosts and magic and family, both blood and found. The ties between Yadriel and his family were heartwarming, challenging, complicated. The ties between Julian and his found family made me melt. The more I read, the more I fell in love with Yadriel and Julian, with their fierce protectiveness of one another, with their willingness to do whatever it takes to keep others safe. I could not put this book down, and I cannot recommend it enough.

As a bisexual trans man, this book spoke to me on so many levels. I felt so seen and heard through Yadriel and his experiences. This is a book I’ve been waiting for for so long and I wish I could have read something similar to this when I was in high school. The entire thing was just so beautifully written with so much care and attention to latinx culture as well as lgbtq+ issues. Highly recommend. This is one of my new favorites!!

Cemetery Boys owns a piece of my heart (and these kids need a break)
God, I absolutely adored this book. I cried, I awwwwed, I laughed, and gasped.
The reading was just extraordinary and the story itself gave me goosebumps. It was so beautiful and (if yadriel permits) all of these kids need a damn hug...and a happily every after...and that sequel 👀
Please, please, please read/listen to this book and just sit back and enjoy the (entirely too stressful at times) ride.

The Audiobook is AMAZING!
Wow! Wow! Wow!
First of all, the book is amazing. I’d love it ANY format, but the narrator brings this story to life in a fantastically vibrant way. Urban Fantasy is one of my favorite genres and this is an amazing story. (I mean, who doesn’t love a good ghost story?!)
The only thing that I didn’t like was thinking I had 20 minutes left of the story and the last 17 minutes was an interview between the narrator and the author. (I loved the interview and it was also fantastic, but I wasn’t ready for the story to be over.)
I just finished the book and I want to listen again.
*Update: I’m seriously on my 3rd re-listen this week. Love it just as much as I did the 1st time, and I highly recommend it!

It's been a while since I read a book and loved every minute of it. Cemetery Boys was absolute perfection from start to finish. There was literally nothing I didn't love about this book. I would not consider this an adult title. That's ok, there are plenty of books targeted and younger folks that I have thoroughly enjoyed. This wasn't one of them. Despite the interesting culture and subject matter I found it mind-numbingly boring. Sorry about that.

Underwhelming
Most of the story is centered around Mexican folklore and dia de los muertos traditions yet the author fails to provide context and direction for many of the tropes. The plot has quite a few weak points. This book was definitely written for a 10 - 15 year old audience.
They tried.
The only pro was that a trans latine voice actor was casted!

I laughed, I cried, I couldn’t stop listening
Oh my god, this book was amazing.
The book itself was so so so good—rich + detailed characters, super cool concept, and a plot that had me constantly guessing at how the book would end. I predicted a few things, but as a whole the ending was so surprising and amazing.
The narrator makes this book even better. I don’t know shit about Spanish, and if I’d just been reading this I would’ve stumbled over every Spanish word + definitely would’ve been mentally pronouncing the characters’ names wrong. The voices he used for each character were subtle but distinct, and I really enjoyed the narration!
I can’t recommend this audiobook enough!
