Howard and Emma Gladstone are at their summer lake house in the early 20th century, when their daughter, Margie, disappears. The police suspect she’s been kidnapped, but there is no ransom note. Despite an enormous effort on land and underwater, no sign of Margie is found.
Ninety-five years later, Sarah Duncan discovers DNA evidence indicating she is descended from the missing Margie Gladstone.
