Story
The man most hated by the LAPD - a black lawyer who has made his name by bringing lawsuits alleging racism and brutality by police officers - has been found murdered on the eve of a high-profile trial. The list of suspects includes half the police force. And Harry Bosch is the detective chosen to head the investigation. The political dangers of the case are huge. If it's not investigated fairly, the public outcry could make the Rodney King riots look tame. But a full investigation will take Bosch into the ugliest corners of law enforcement.

Chasing the Dime: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! *
The phone messages waiting for Henry Pierce clearly aren't for him: "Where is Lilly? This is her number. It's on the site." Pierce has just moved into a new apartment, and he's been "chasing the dime" - doing all it takes so his company comes out first with a scientific breakthrough worth millions. But he can't get the messages for Lilly out of his head. As Pierce tries to help a woman he has never met, he steps into a world of escorts, websites, sex, and secret passions. A world where his success and expertise mean nothing...and where he becomes the chief suspect in a murder case, trapped in the fight of his life.
*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Lousy book. Good narration
Disappointing, terrible, unbelievable, and frustrating. Skip this “new” version of this book. I’ve read and enjoyed many of Connelly’s books. It was all I could do to finish this awful story. The main character is supposed to be a brilliant scientist. Yet he continues to make stupid decisions at every turn of the page. Don’t waste money or a credit on this 2O year old book which even this “Booktrack Edition” can’t improve.

Connelly should be embarrassed
Connelly should be embarrassed and I am annoyed that I listened to this stupid book. It was probably a flop when it was written in 2002 and it certainly should have been. Ugh. Don't bother. What a rip off.

A big disappointment
I always look forward to any book by Michael Connelly, but I returned this about half way through. The narrator wasn’t my favorite but was adequate. The actual story line was interesting, as far as I got. All the characters were one dimensional. The behavior of the main character defied logic. He blundered along, wandering through possible crime scenes leaving fingerprints everywhere, leaving voicemails with potentially damaging information, and worst, exposed all kinds of people to unnecessary violence. People would say, don’t call me, it’s dangerous and he would call and leave messages that would get the person killed if heard by the wrong person. Who is this stupid? Surely not the Founder and main researcher of a
major tech company. I found myself hoping the bad guys would kill him off just because he was behaving so stupidly. I’m sorry. I gave up half way through. I recommend not wasting time on this one.

Don’t waste your money
The nice, dramatic booktrack effects are completely wasted on this implausible, plodding bore of a book. The hero, a supposed tech genius, does one absurd thing after another while generally behaving like a stalker. I was rooting for the bad guys by the end, hoping they would off him and put me out of my misery. No such luck. 10 hours of my life I’ll never get back. Michael Connelly is usually so much better. He was phoning it in with this one.

The story is awesome! The music is distracting.
I loved the story. I have read every Michael Connelly character and book; he never disappoints. The boot rack edition was the only available option so I tried it. It nearly ruined the book for me. The music is placating, distracting and takes away from the story. I will not get this type of audio book again.
