À propos de cet audio

Seth Andrews wasn't an idiot during his 30 years as an evangelical Christian. He wasn't unintelligent, nor did his IQ shift when he ultimately left religion entirely. He considered himself thoughtful, moral, reasonable, and at least as smart as the average person. In other words, he wasn't an idiot. Yet strangely, he often sounded like one.

In any other context, Christians would likely smirk, scoff, or recoil at many of their "normal" beliefs and practices, reenacted Easter crucifixions, eating monthly communion "flesh", singing hymns about being washed in blood, and the embrace of a Bible containing scripture verses about golden hemorrhoids, apocalypse dragons, and human sacrifice, So what gives?

Are these notions embraced only because they're familiar? Do they make any sense? And, do they cause otherwise reasonable people to sound like idiots?

Seth Andrews admits that, for himself, the answer was a definite "yes". For everyone else? Listen to the audiobook and decide.

As a former (childhood) evangelical Christian turned atheist, this book succeeded in highlighting and (justifiably) satyrizing so many of the awkward questions I was forbidden to ask as I grew up...the ones which eventually compelled me to dismiss my faith as inexcusable and horrifying superstition.

I just wish I could convince a large number of my family members to read it...

Thanks for the belly laughs

Very heartfelt and courteous stories of the ridiculousness of Christian thinking and behaviors. A very entertaining book for nonbelievers, believers and former believers alike.

Entertainingly fantastic

There really isn’t any case for there being a God and there just isn’t a case for there not being a God. Overall the case here came up short but if you’re convinced there isn’t a God there was some good entertainment in terms of mocking the purity culture of Christianity

Some good points
