Publisher's Summary

Liam loves his life as a linguist and trader on the Rownt homeworld, but he has ignored his heart and sexual needs for years. After escaping the horrors of war, he wants a boring life. He won't risk letting anyone come too close because he won't risk letting anyone see his deeply submissive nature. For him, submission comes with pain. Life burned that lesson into his soul from a young age.

This fear keeps him from noticing that the Rownt trader Ondry cares for him. Ondry may not understand humans, but he recognizes a wounded soul, and his need to protect Liam is quickly outpacing his common sense. They may have laws, culture, and incompatible genitalia in their way, but Ondry knows that he can find a way to overcome all that if he can just overcome the ghosts of Liam's past. Only then can he take possession of a man he has grown to respect.

Contains mature themes.

Pretty good

World building is really good. Narration is great. Listened to a few of Jon solo books. I enjoy reading love stories between two people.

Unique alien romance

This is probably one of the best and unique alien romances I’ve ever read. The aliens are actually alien and not just humans with different coloured skin. They act like aliens and have different customs and languages. Highly recommend if you like both sci fi and romance.

Something a bit different, really enjoyed it!

This story took quite a while to build the world and the characters, but I enjoyed and appreciated every bit of that development, because it's a pretty unique world and species of alien. I really enjoyed the two characters - particularly Ondry - and listening to their friendship develop. The narrator did a great job, again especially with Ondry.

great series

Even if alien sex isn't usually a thing for you (it's not for me), this is a really wonderful series. The worldbuilding is detailed and complex. There is a romantic relationship between the main characters with HFNs until the HEA at the end of the series. The story and relationship dynamics are both engaging.

Oh bother...DNF

I didn’t finish this book, primarily because of the narration. I find John Solo’s form of narration to be good in some books, but not in anything romance based. His form never alters, he doesn’t use accents or voice changes, so the books almost sound like an audio version of a textbook with non natural inflections in the reading.

I listened until chapter 8?, 9? 12?, not sure, but could not take it any more. Liam really did seem helpless and not in anything endearing.

I don’t know what I expected with the title, but the actual story was disappointing. Over 7 feet purple aliens with tails that are considered young even when over 200 years old, who do nothing but trade in artifacts and food, and never have sex for pleasure, only to procreate, but only with very old women who hold them down and force it on those they think worthy of carrying on the race......huh? Sometimes I think authors truly sit and brainstorm ideas for the most fantastical, outside the norm ideology and put it in a book with some poor suspecting human female or male, who apparently will be weak but try to be strong, but will ultimately be the sex slave turn lifetime partner of the alien or fantastical beast.
