Publisher's Summary

The final volume in the New York Times best-selling, award-winning steampunk trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson and legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart

In Clockwork Angels and Clockwork Lives, listeners met the optimistic young hero Owen Hardy, as well as the more reluctant adventurer Marinda Peake, in an amazing world of airships and alchemy, fantastic carnivals and lost cities. Now Owen Hardy, retired and content in his quiet, perfect life with the beautiful Francesca, is pulled into one last adventure with his eager grandson Alain. This final mission for the Watchmaker will take them up to the frozen lands of Ultima Thule and the ends of the Earth. Marinda Peake must undertake a mission of her own, not only to compile the true life story of the mysterious Watchmaker, but also to stop a deadly new group of anarchists.

The Clockwork trilogy is based on the story and lyrics from the last album of musical titans Rush, with Anderson and Peart expanding the world, stories, and characters. The two developed the final novel in the trilogy in the last years of Peart's life, and more than a year after his passing, Anderson returned to that unfinished project, with the full support of Peart's wife, bringing Owen and Marinda's stories to a satisfying and stirring conclusion.

An emotional finish to the KJA/NP Trilogy

What is the measure of a life?

If you have been along for this ride, then it is a no-brainer to read this novel. If you are a Rush fan, it will feel as if it is written for you. This story is a compliment to the previous two entries, and it feels like a natural ending to the series.

KJAs afterward is emotional. There is a lot of richness to the blending of speculative fiction and progressive rock music. I don't think it has ever done quite as effectively. KJA and NP blend their distinct storytelling methods into a work that represents a lasting legacy for both.

Go back and listen to the Clockwork Angels album after you finish this novel. Pretty fascinating stuff. Thank you Neil.

You get what you deserve!

This is the final book of the Clockwork book series trilogy. A excellent ending to 12 year journey started by Rush drummer Neil Peart and finished by author Kevin J. Anderson.

This adventure brings the main character from the two previous books, Owen Hardy (Our Hero) from Clockwork Angels and Miranda Peak from Clockwork Lives together for an adventure full of excitement to find the origin of the quintessence at the Northern Lights in far reaches of the arctic. Owen travels with his grandson to find the wanted treasure of the life giving force for the Watchmaker while Miranda works to finish the Watchmaker’s biography.

Both had to face tumultuous trials while on their assigned sojourns. But, yet discovered things more they could imagine. Owen meets the challenges head on all in the name of accepting what needed to do to meet his obligation to save his wife. His grandson, Olen, is overjoyed to have the experience to be with grandfather.

Not to spoil anything further read this book and complete the journey with Owen and Olen. Enjoy!!

"Wish that I could live it all again"

once again, Kevin and Neil created the perfect continuation of Owen Hardy's family adventures. I chose the title of my review, not only being a huge Rush fan and a fan of Kevin's book, " wisk that I could live it all again" means that I will read the Clockwork Angels books over and over again.

Clockwork Destiny (audiobook)

I just completed listening to Clockwork Destiny. KJA did a remarkable job with the story, I’m sure Neil is pleased. Amazing “weaving in” of so many lyrical snippets from the first album through Clockwork Angels.

The Clockwork universe doesn't fail yet again.

This book is yet a phoenominal work in the series. Although there were some things that I thought were phone ins as far as predictability was concerned. Yet it was a very melancholy tale which I can relate with the passing of Neil. But the story was incredibly well, written and left possibilities for a continuation at the end. I loved it. Kevin has a knack for brilliant story telling, and whether it's Clockwork, or Star Trek, you're in for a reading getaway.

Slow

Kevin Anderson usually writes a great story, but I found this slow and mind numbing. As was his narration.
