Wooden's philosophy come from age-old teachings.

Who hasn't heard of John Wooden?
Arguably the greasted coach in sports history. He breaks down all the steps in his pyramid so we can take a look at many areas of our lives to make those adjustments to achieve a version of success. Carty couples time-proven Biblically Based principles, the Inside of Oneself has to be renewed before we can see the changes on the outside for others to see.

Good System, but Content is Different than I Want

I think that Coach Wooden has developed a good philosophy here. He presents important characteristics as building blocks for success.

The book gets sidetracked by referencing biblical teachings as examples, which often are a stretch. This takes up the majority of the book. I don't mind Christian teachings, but I would prefer more personal and relatable examples. I wished the book was more focused on the pyramid of success and Coach Wooden's experiences coaching.

Religious

The description of this book should have included the fact that 2/3a of this book is scripture.

I am ok with Woodens use of Christianity as it ties into his philosophy. But that is a small portion of this book. Carty’s input is complete preaching. Which I can do without. I feel deceived as to what this book was.
