Summary

 When Spenser's closet ally, Hawk, is brutally injured and left for dead while protecting booking Luther Gillespie, Spenser embarks on an epic journey to rehabilitate his friend in body and soul. It's not a backstory, but it revolves around Hawk, what makes up the type of man he is, and what type Spenser is. While both hold to a code they are both different, Hawk working outside the law and Spenser doing his best to assist it without the constraints. It's what I love best about both and part of why I love this series so much.
