Publisher's Summary

The Comanche warrior Horseback is born on the same day that the first horse comes to his people. He matures into a powerful leader of uncommon wisdom and vision. Through the strong medicine granted to him by the spirits and the love of Teal, the most beautiful woman in his tribe, Horseback is destined to forge a new direction and lead the Comanches to rule the plains.

What the critics say

"Not only a heartfelt expression of the author's love of horses, this fine novel also offers a detailed study of life among those Blakely considers to have been the greatest horsemen of all time....Although it is fiction, Comanche Dawn should be required reading for anyone wishing to know about life among the early Plains Indians." Stirs the Imagination

What a great description of an almost magical time in our history. It's hard to believe that any of this was once real. If I could go back in time this would be a place that I would love to see, learn and live. From first contact with Europeans to Horses and spiritual connections this book will make you fearful, happy, and sad; and possibly warm your soul around a fire inside a lodge pole teepee.
