A lot had changed in "The Holy Sky" School during the six weeks that Hadjar Darkhan was away. Everyone who was in the capital at the time became much stronger, thanks to the regular skirmishes along the Imperial road. By the emperor's decree, all the disciples of the Imperial martial arts schools were allowed to visit the infamous and highly coveted Wastelands. "The Holy Sky's" disciples were especially fortunate - they'd been given a two-week head start to find the map leading to Emperor Decater's tomb, as well as the key that would allow them to enter his chambers.

A worthy successor
If you liked the other three book you are going to love this book.
This is part of a series so don't listen to it until you've listened to the other books.
Unlike so many series it doesn't get stale!
Buy it you won't be disappointed.

Poorly written power fantasy, or secret masterwork
very entertaining, and engaging, but the main character is still an unrelatable sociopath. Also the narration has a wierd way of glorifying his lack of pity and empathy, which i thought was annoying until i had the thought that maybe the narration is completely worded as if the narrator shares the mc's believes. Just a possible hint that this is Semi 1st person, which would make it way cooler than it actually is.
at the end of the day the story is a power fantasy with really cool concepts, but probably nothing more than that.

good series
great series with lots of moving parts i just wanted some of the paths to have a defining ending. The characters are very well balanced and defined but they tend to disappear and reappear which doesn't make the story flow well. Overall this series has tremendous potential and I can't wait for the next

Really good series
I like the fact that the MC is not OP. He's always in a constant struggle to reach the next level in his cultivation. He may be advancing in levels of his cultivation but he's always just falls just short of his goals. So he makes due with what he has and makes it work for him.

Solid
better then expected by far...like really far...nope your not getting it. i mean by really far when weighing the writting, plot and character development, leveling system, and bad ass scene development that explodes into action.
so buy it and be open to a new experience.
