Publisher's Summary

Workaholic Detective Aiden Carlisle isn't looking for love - and certainly not at the law-enforcement seminar she reluctantly agreed to attend. But the first lecturer is not at all what she expected.

Psychologist Dawn Kinsley has just found her place in life. After a failed relationship with a police officer, she has sworn never to get involved with another cop again, but she feels a connection to Aiden from the very first moment.

Can Aiden keep herself from crossing the line when a brutal crime threatens to keep them apart before they've even gotten together?

Contains mature themes.

Amazing book

To take such a sensitive topic and spin it into an amazing story is why Jea is in my top 10 authors. This book was very intense as one of the MC is raped right at the beginning of the book which made it a tough read at times but if you can push past it it is worth it. I ended up invested in Dawn’s healing journey and how Aiden was so patient with her. It was well written with likable characters intertwined in a heartfelt storyline.

i love this book!!!!!

I usually don't do books. Have a character rape inside of it but this was done so well I meant that it was having like just kind of like rip the Band-Aid off so you really don't get a chance to brace yourself for it but does Arthur did such a good job with everything I know some people didn't enjoy what's up like two characters to get a chance to get to know each other after everything happened but I felt like the second part of the book was really done very well I have felt like they had changed to now they get to know each other but heal from everything that happened and start to put the life back together.

I enjoy the whole entire book but to be honest with you, my favorite part of the book have to be the second part of the healing process I love the cop process I thought it was done very well but I enjoy the second part a lot more I'm looking forward to getting into the second book I've already bought the second book and this is a good story Abby's one my favorite narrators ever since I got into auto books and I'm just really enjoy her voice and what she does with these characters so I'm big fan of her and she should home run with this

I know this is based off of there originally was a law and Order SVU fanfiction with Olivia and Alex but other than the main character having a little bit of Olivia's background this was definitely original characters all around I couldn't even tell that this was a Uber story. because it was done so well it was done very well there their own characters this was just a really amazing story I would love a third book in the series to see them deal with other cases if that's possible I would love to see another book of the series after book 2

fantastic Book

the characters are very well written well rounded and easy to get into.
the story line is raw and unnerving, but you won't be able to look away. i did find it a bit long to only have it end leaving me wanting more.. but thats what a good Author does. so now I need to see what happens to everyone in its sequel Next of Kin..
trust me buying this book will not disappoint you.

Not what I expected

This isn't your normal romance novel. It delves into serious subject matter and situations. But what I found amazing is this didn't end with catching the bad guy and getting together. The aftermath is given. where talking about 5 chapters worth. Very well done. Highly recommend!
As always Abby Craden is amazing bringing these characters to life.

It takes time to rebuild a stronger life.

A story of violence that steals your independence and innocence. It can only take what we let it. Dawn's life is in changed forever. Aiden does not know the depths she has lost. Together they have a chance to build a life of love that is strong, whole and built to last forvever.

Another Classic Story and Performance

Aiden is a police detective with the Portland Sex Crimes Unit. Fawn works with victims of rape and assault. When they meet at a seminar for police officers where Dawn specks on LGBTQ issues of rape and assault, Aiden is drawn to her. Can their attraction grow into something bigger? Marvelous author and performance. Recommend.

What can go wrong?

When Jae writes and Abby Craden narrates there is always a success. And this book is no different.
I loved Aiden, she is a strong balanced woman, both in her profession and her love. She reminded me of “Olivia Benson” from SUV. The story was well developed and I liked the court scenes, these scenes Iar missed in SUV.
So thank you Jae for actually detailing that.

Get on with it already...

I normally really like Jae. But this book was really really really slow.
The narrator was good which made the book bearable, but otherwise I have read a lot better

Just blown away

Fell in love with each character. It’s intensity and vulnerability is a true testimonial to the power of a human being. I’ve read and listened to similar stories but haven’t gotten the realistic emotions a person would undergo. Thanks For being so talented Jae ❤️
