About this listen
Workaholic Detective Aiden Carlisle isn't looking for love - and certainly not at the law-enforcement seminar she reluctantly agreed to attend. But the first lecturer is not at all what she expected.
Psychologist Dawn Kinsley has just found her place in life. After a failed relationship with a police officer, she has sworn never to get involved with another cop again, but she feels a connection to Aiden from the very first moment.
Can Aiden keep herself from crossing the line when a brutal crime threatens to keep them apart before they've even gotten together?
Contains mature themes.

well named; dark romance
This book is well written, but I have had to take a break cuz it's very emotionally charged on the issue of sexual assault. I'm about halfway through and so far the sexual assault story and its aftermath are very prevalent. It does not get graphic about the assault so far, but it does go pretty indepth about the psychological trauma. And the book is well named and has made me very tense on that subject too as I keep expecting everything to explode and I think it may be about to. I haven't read dark romance before but I would put it in that category. Not at all similar to regular romance to me. If you want a fluffy and/or sexy escape seek elsewhere. There is definite sexual tension, but some of the characters' actions are driving me nuts and I want to tell them off for being stupid when they should know better.

Well written
I preferred other titles by Jae. This book is more about surviving a sexual assault than a love story. There was a lot of research and love put in this book and it really shows. Abby Craden delivers once again a superb performance.

Parents of girls should read this book
I was so curious while reading through this book. I felt the author had an intense insight into sexual assault and into how to address the resulting relationships that breakdown following an assault.
I often read books (listen to books) and wish the character would just make the right decision, say a compassion thing, come from kindness and Jae shows us how that can be done.
So many characters had meaningful transformations. This book addresses consent, assault, and romantic relationships in such a subtle way that it leaves a powerful impression.
I had to look up the author to see if they had a history of working with survivors of sexual assault....out of curiosity. :)
Anyway. Now I’m reading everything she puts out. Amazing. I love the strong, loving characters and the positive relationships they build. Can’t wait for the next read.
