The full story behind Cool Hand Luke

PTSD. I guess when the movie was made they didn’t want to talk about that. But the book makes it very clear. Luke was suffering from PTSD. He won the bronze star and the silver star in Italy, but could not get past what he had seen and done. It drove him to alcoholism. And that drove him to prison. The movie is quite faithful, other than that and a few other things, to the book.

A very book listen.

Racist language aside, fantastic book!

Great performance and story. I understand the language was not taboo at the time it was written and that it was how people spoke in that where and when; and it certainly kept the reader in the setting... but its condemnable any way. Despite that, I enjoyed the story very much.
