It's not often I get so enthralled with a story where I feel angry/sad/excited......pretty much all the feels. The talent of this author to create characters and scenes that evoke such an emotional response is really impressive. There were so many unexpected plot twists that I was constantly wondering who was good and who was bad. I'm hoping there will be more books after these ones because I'd like to know what becomes of Elaine and all the others like her. l The narration was fantastic, the dragons were epic and I want more!

I found it really difficult to listen through this series. If I had been reading the physical books, I would have stopped before finishing the first one. The writing itself is not bad, with good imagery and descriptions of scenes, but the characters are flat. I hoped that I would grow to like the protagonist as the story progressed, but I still find him insufferable. As someone's world expands, you'd think that their motivations would become more nuanced... I could go on... I do think that the narration is pretty good, though. I hope this author's character development skills catch up to their other writing talents. I'll check in on their work in the future and give it another try.
