Rachel Lacey, author of Stars Collide, serves up a steamy tale of Hollywood fame and subterfuge about a glamorous actress and the sexy bodyguard posing as her girlfriend.

Natalie Keane is one of Hollywood’s top leading ladies, but she’s paid a steep price for her fame. After she was stalked eight years ago, the ensuing media frenzy almost broke her. So when a new threat arises, Natalie agrees to extra security, but she wants to keep it under wraps. The last thing she needs is another tabloid spectacle, especially during awards season.

Taylor Vaughn has made a career as a bodyguard to the stars, but an injury has kept her sidelined for the past three months, jeopardizing her future in the job she loves. When an opportunity arises to work for Natalie Keane, Taylor jumps at the chance—even before knowing the details of the assignment.

From the moment they meet, Natalie knows this could work: Taylor, the bodyguard, masquerading as her girlfriend. The perfect cover story. But as circumstances push the two women closer, the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur.

Loved following Taylor from her time as Eden’s bodyguard in Stars Collide, to a new assignment with a new celebrity. Taylor and Natalie are great together. A sequel with Eden and Anna doing the soundtrack to Natalie’s next movie, or something like that, would be a perfect way to continue the series. I’ve read Stars Collide and Cover Story multiple times, I have to revisit the characters because I miss them too much.

Although, as a Canadian, I would be remiss if I’d didn’t point out that it’s not uncommon for the temperature to drop to -40 in Edmonton in winter so, to say “not as cold as you might think” would be highly misleading. Furthermore, to compare the weather in Vancouver, where it rarely drops below zero, to the weather in Edmonton would be equally misleading. So, perhaps a dip in your research there. But, great book otherwise.

Fantastic continuation of Taylor’s story

Pros: The characters were amazing and their individual stories and how they came together were both breathtakingly beautiful. It's kind of interesting that their journeys are in opposite directions, in a way, with Natalie having to work to believe she's stronger than she thinks for her mental health and Taylor having to work to accept her body is weaker than it has ever been for her physical health. I loved Quinn's performance. She's particularly suited to reflective books with lots of pathos like this one, I think.

Plea to fact check: I really did love this story, but please... if you can afford it at all pay a sensitivity reader or editor to fact check for you on cultural things you don't have first hand experience of, especially if you don't research thoroughly yourself. A passionate beta reader from Canada would probably have done it for free if you're writing on a shoe string budget. It would have been an easy 5 stars across the board except almost every detail about Canada in the book was wrong. Easiest one to fact check would have been that Edmonton is MUCH MUCH colder than Vancouver.... Natalie would scoff at not just California's idea of cold, but of Vancouver's too. At least Natalie is an ex-pat so Canada doesn't come up much in the story, but unfortunately it does come up right before the love confession so I hadn't fully reimmersed myself in the story when that happened which is unfortunate as it was so poignant I might have cried otherwise.

I loved this story, but fact check
