Publisher's Summary

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally - as the bait.

Featured Article: 11 Book Series for Fans of the Twilight Saga

The Twilight Saga, by Stephenie Meyer, was one of the most widely popular book series of its time. It spawned a huge following, gained devoted fans that argued fervently for either Team Edward or Team Jacob, and generally started an entire young adult vampire craze. It was also a sign to many that teens could still become obsessed with books—and not just obsessed, but obsessed on a widespread, global level. But after Twilight came to an end, many younger listeners (and the adults they grew into) were left wondering what next series could fill the void. Luckily, a plethora of authors stepped up with content sure to satisfy any Twilight fan’s thirst for a new listen.

Must read/ listen

Completely obsessed with this series 10/10 recommend. This first book might be a little difficult to get through as it reminded me of twilight a bit but trust me it is worth the listen or read.

Cringy at times

Overall the story was good, did not expect the plot twists, but I could live with not hearing “is sexy AF” ever again.
I recommend if you like fluffy and YA vampire stories

Incredible!

Wow what a great story! I was worried it would be a recycled Twilight but it is not at all. It had me hooked from start to finish and feeling so connected to the characters! I can't wait to listen to the next one!!

Beware: I am Currently Binging the Series

Once you start you really can't stop, normally after the 1st and 2dn book I'm done. The plot has twists I never really see coming, the way they describe the other during the mate bond is really cheesy I can't lie but I also laugh out loud all the time from it too. It's one of those easy reads that take your mind off the day to day. It's great escapism, which is exactly what I personally, look for.

Ironically good

Typical teen love story that makes you facepalm and squeal at the same time. If you're into paranormal romance this is the creme de la creme of your favourite tropes and cliches.

Not For Me

I don't think I was the target audience. This is for fans who wonder what Twilight would be like if it were set at Hogwarts. It definitely has fun and charm, but it didn't quite differentiate itself from its predecessors. The characters have some depth and the romance is sweet if a bit too quick, but there wasn't much to hold my interest throughout.

Most of that had to do with the pacing. Logistically/realistically, I understand it. Grace acts the way she does because she is trying to fit in. But it takes a long, long time for the truth of Katmere to be revealed, which is ironic given how many teases are inserted into the story. The romance also moves very, very quickly and seemingly without many hurdles.

Grace has energy and spunk, but it started to get repetitive that all she could think about was Jaxon. I would have liked to see her find out more answers on her own terms than obsessing about him. Jaxon himself fits well in the broody trope, though I did really enjoy his backstory and development.

This is primarily a romance book with some clever banter and sweet moments, but not much tension since these two barely know each other after a couple of weeks together.

The prose and dialogue are realistic and fine, though I got a little bit tired of hearing "insert word AF," but I genuinely believed Grace as a human character.

While this isn't the book for me, I do think it is a fun story for younger romance readers who are looking for a specific type of urban fantasy romance.

Great start to the series

Crave is YA so not overly spicy but I still enjoy the connection between Grace & Jaxon. There definitely is enough interest in the storyline for me to continue with the next book in the series.

A little cringe but fun

This book is a little cheesy and cringe but the world building is so much fun and I had a great time overall and love the whole vibe. Also I enjoy this narrator’s voice so much!

A Good Light Read

First off, I will say that this book is worth giving a chance. Based on a lot of other reviews I’ve seen people seem to strongly love or hate this book. I’m in my late 20’s and feel it was definitely good, maybe not great.

Here are a few bullet notes I made while reading:

* Good writing, great descriptions not too long but paints a picture.
* Language is a little juvenile. If you’ve never used “sexy AF” in a sentence it could be a little off-putting.
* School setting is more Hogwarts than Forks High.
* Notable character diversity.

This book holds a lot of mystery, you think you know what’s going to happen but the author gives you just enough info to tease you but keep you guessing. I’ve also read the next two books following this one and I will say that the juvenile language does improve in case that worries you. It’s not overly spicy but the romance is great and I enjoyed the world building.

Overall, I would recommend it, it will suck you in and hold your interest as you want to learn more about this world.
