Greatly Disappointed
I was looking for a Romantic Comedy under the Romantic Package genre and this book was popped up with the many other books that are so-called romantic comedy stories. I read the description and saw that the story had the added story line of a murder mystery. Sadly this book had no romance and certainly there was nothing funny about it. As for the mystery... that didn't show up until chapter 9 and by then I was getting bored hearing about the main character and her sister's gym adventures. No one really needs to know that Hanna bought a no calorie fizzy water in peach flavor while she bought her sister one in raspberry flavor.
The story dragged so much that after the 21st chapter I started to jump ahead in the story just so I could find out who killed the victim. And the last chapter was so unnecessary. Also, the leading lady Hanna Swenson comes off as a real selfish woman leading two men on because she superficially likes the good looking detective who bold face lies to her and a bit of a chauvinist and has no faith in her. All the while letting leading on faithful supportive and honorable and dependable Norman just because he's not movie star good looking and is only a dentist. She basically uses Norman to help her when she needs it and to stroke her ego and all the while still crushing on the detective who has no redeeming qualities.
She has two men wanting her but neither of them are getting any more from Hanna than some platonic action. No earth shattering kisses and no tender moments. If you are looking for a romance book this is not it. Audibles has failed by adding this book under the Romance genre listing.

Cream Puff Murder
After reading other reviews of this book. I think that the others were perhaps a bit to harsh. I really enjoyed the book. It wasn't deep or particularly earth shattering, however it was a pleasant story and exactly what I was looking for when I downloaded the book. The story was a bit of a cream puff itself. Light and fluffy, with little substance, but delicious for a hot summer afternoon on the beach.
I will agree that the recipes were a little distracting, but it is easy to skip past. Actually I would have liked to have a text file with the book with the said recipes. I don't think the recipes within the book were distracting enough to take away from the overall book! Quit being so snobby, and enjoy light reading for what it is!

Why are you reading recipes?
This book is a light listen during these crazy times, but why on earth are they reading recipes? I do not want to hear add 3 eggs to 1 cup of flour, etc. Not necessary for the book at all. Makes me turn the book off every time until I am somewhere that I can skip ahead.

4 hrs into a 9 hr book...
finally someone gets murdered.
until then, you learn about her work outs.
and.. apparently there's recipes that are read off to you. do I care about the 20 mins of cookies? no. that's why I didn't buy a cookbook to be read to me.

Disappointed
I was looking forward to finding a new mystery series and was disappointed by what I found. Usually a reader expects to get the detective and the case in the first few chapters, but the murder doesn't even happen until the 10th chapter. Character development wasn't strong or believable. I was most interested in some of the recipes...

Cream Puff Murder
I have read all of her books and this one doesn't disappoint. Although I am not all that interested in the recipes, I like that it is what sets her books apart and adds to their interest. I like the reader and feel like I know the characters. To me if I can picture what the characters look like, then the author has done their job. The mysteries are cute and keep me interested.
