Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

Great story

Loved the story of Caleb and her. The rest was interesting and still romantic in its own way. Not blood related so I didn’t find it odd

Not a copycat book

I loved all the narrators- it was great to have different male narrators in an audiobook. That really adds a great depth of experience when each character has a unique voice. It was extremely well done.

The plot was interesting and showed great character development throughout. It manages to avoid all but one trope and go in unexpected directions.

I was a little uncomfortable with the age differences but suspended my disbelief and let the author twist the tale. The story isn’t always comfortable but it’s spicy and complex and it works.

No in between either love it or hate it

Tons of cringe worthy moments in this book but if you can get past that the smut is fantastic. Absolutely nothing acceptable in the real world in here.
It’s basically about 4 emotionally fucked up people trying to figure out how to cope/find happiness through unhealthy relationships/sex partners. (In my opinion.)
There is no excuse for the actions of some of the characters in this book but the author gives you a glimpse of why some of the characters are so fucked up.
I usually can’t get through books with “Non Con” (non consent…. rape) in them but I got through this one. There is one attempted and one that starts as sex, turns to rape then escapes before completion of rape if this is a trigger for you.
17/18 year old losing her virginity to an uncle in his 40’s is pretty disgusting too. There are other triggers in this book so this book isn’t for everyone.
I saw lots of negative comments about the narrators but I thought they did fine.

Good book was disappointed that no one in the step family got stuck in the dryer

A decent read. I was disappointed in the ending tho. It is spicy and those scenes were intriguing.

Messed up situation but intriguing

The story was interesting and unique and had me excited to keep listening, but the voice of the narrator was so monotonous and flat. She was obviously trying to portray a person with no emotion, but it was too much and it got very distracting.

Not impressed…lacked. A lot.

I knew going into this book what the premise was. I was not at all “shocked” or surprised at the plot. I knew what I was getting into.

When I tell you this book was TERRIBLE. From the literal unnecessary explanations; “I brought my toothbrush and slowly put toothpaste on it before adding water and brushing my teeth”. LIKE WHY. I DO NOT CARE. This book could have been 10 chapters.

The amount of times I yelled both internally and externally “I DONT CARE” at the completely useless explanations and repetition of the writing in this book was almost unbelievable.

The female narrator was so indifferent, lacking any kind of emotion and read words wrong, which made me hate the FMC even more.

Jake’s narrator, when trying to perform Mirai’s “subtle accent” as described by the author, was a STRONG accent of Scottish, Indian, Spanish and a hint of WTF. I almost stopped completely at this point, but I pushed through. Thank god there was only 1 section of the book with that butchering.

Noah’s character was by far my favourite in all aspects. The narrator was enthusiastic and actually fit the character.

The spice was spicy, but not the craziest I’ve read and was only a small portion of the book.

All in all, if I could get back the hours I spent listening to this book, I would. It was too repetitive within the same paragraphs and/or sentence, like we need to be reminded two or three times about why the FMC is saying or doing something.

Definitely not worth the hype.
There are no plot twists or shocking moments. Predictable and the “off limits” family incest situation is meh.

Interesting

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. While I enjoyed I did feel uncomfortable with the Uncle thing. That was too much and I had to not think about it in order to get into the book. Found the female narrator was super slow in her reading at I has played the whole book at 1.15x speed so I didn't want to slap her for talking so slow.
