Publisher's Summary

Bridging the hatred of centuries did not come easy for Freyrík Farr and Ayden Vaska. As prince of a war-torn human province, Freyrík could ill afford to fall for an enemy. And Ayden, an elven warrior with 300 years of bitterness in his heart, wanted no part of love. Yet they came together despite themselves and the wills of their peoples, joining hearts and minds to fight a race of Dark Beasts threatening the extinction of mankind.

Yet the Dark Beast threat pales beside the dangers of a summons to the human High Court, home of the Aegis Exalted and the harshest test yet of Ayden’s and Freyrík’s fledgling love.

When the Aegis strips Ayden of his magic, Freyrík is forced to choose between his love for elf, Aegis, and king, all the while seeking the one uncertain path that might save his doomed race. Time is fast running out for mankind, and only by making peace among themselves and with their ancient elven enemies can they end the Dark war - and undo the tragedy that’s plagued humans, elves, and Dark Beasts alike for the last 300 years.

Rare epic fantasy

Narrator Giles Barron delivered a passionate epic conclusion to a fabulous original MM fantasy. Not many of these available to us MM lovers. The change in narrators had no effect on me, as I listened to the two audiobooks, months apart. That’s the positive side of burning your brain cells out during your younger days. I totally forgot what Craig Beck sounded like in the first audiobook. Giles has done it so well, I have nothing to protests here. His character voices were fitting and distinguishable, and the cadence of his voice is smooth and very enjoyable. His reading carried lots of tension which contributed to high angst moments.

This book picks up right after the first one, so listen to them in reading order. This was very touching, as Ayden went through a tremendous amount of tough treatment. I hate human and I hated how Freyrick took his sweet time to get the ball rolling and get them out there. He has no backbone and even fewer brain cells than myself. There is a lot of twists and turns and shocking times that made me cringe. I feel Aiden never really got his revenge, but probably because he is not a vengeful elve

The HEA was beautiful. I do recommend this audiobook, especially if you are looking for something different. The sex scenes are hot and detailed.
