Publisher's Summary

You can pick your friends, they say, but you can't pick your family. And lately, Mike Daley's family has been keeping him very busy. An ex-priest, ex-public defender, and ex-corporate lawyer, Daley and his former wife, Rosie Fernandez, now run their own San Francisco criminal defense firm. Most of their cases are fairly small-time, which is why it would be surprising that the person accused of murdering movie director Richard (Big Dick) MacArthur is calling them - except that the accused is Rosie's own niece, Angelina. That case is bad enough, but the family problems don't end there: Rosie's brother, Tony, may be on the wrong end of a strong-arm graft proposal; the son of one of the firm's lawyers has just been busted on a drug charge; Mike is having a clandestine affair with a woman judge... and Rosie herself has a dark secret that may make all of it seem irrelevant.

An intricate plot, immensely likeable characters, powerful suspense, and more than a touch of humor-these have already become Siegel's hallmarks. Criminal Intent will keep you turning pages until its final, surprising end.

Lots of intrigue and suspense!

Criminal Intent is Book 3 in the seven book Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez legal thriller series. The first 5 books are available in audiobook format and all seven are available in Kindle ebook format. Audible does not list this series as a series. The novels were released between 2000 and 2010 inclusive. The novels in order written are Special Circumstances, Incriminating Evidence, Criminal Intent, Final Verdict, The Confession, Judgement Day, and Perfect Alibi. Daley and Fernandez are law partners who were once married but now divorced. Daley is also an ex-priest. The pair have a 10 year old daughter.

Criminal Intent is an excellent legal thriller, but in my view it is the weakest novel in the superb seven book series. The intrigue is over the top.

I recommend the entire Daley/Fernandez series.

Criminal Intent IS NOT The Great American Novel. It is a legal/murder mystery. Mike Daley & Rosie Fernandez have had fine chemistry since Special Circumstances -the first novel in Sheldon Siegel's series. In fact, you'd do well starting with that book and enjoying their growth through Criminal Intent.

Here they wrestle with movie moguls, real estate developers, community organizers, and shabby politicians in San Fransisco. Apparently neither Bill Godfrey nor any of the production staff have ever visited that city or they'd pronounce place names accurately. The mispronouncing is repetitive and ripped my attention away from the narrative. Still, even with this irritant, it's the sort of book that makes cleaning the dishes, or mowing the lawn totally bearable.

Soooo Disappointing1

I thought there were some flaws in the story line...felt many of the conversations were repetitive. I could have overlooked that slight flaw but what ruined the book was the narration...I could barely get through the very bad accents of the supporting characters....one sounded like he was speaking with a mouthful of marbles and another who was supposed to be Hispanic sounded Irish. Then there was the pronunciation of Marin (MA - rin) ---(not MAR-in). To someone who's lived in and loves the Bay Area, it was like screeching chalk on a blackboard. Still love Rosie and Mike, though.

Poor quality recording of a decent story

The story was decent as was the performance, but there were many distracting sounds in the background throughout the recording. Frequently sounded like doors closing or objects dropping-- at times enough so that it pulled me out of the story and reminded me I was sitting in traffic.

Great Story Horrible recording

Tim Campbell narrated the first 2 books in this series and did a great job and he set the standards for what the characters sound like. This Bill Godfrey guy not only did a bad job changing the voices, pronouncing the words, the recording sounds like it was done on a subway at times with background noise.

I don't understand why authors change narrators.

Great Story with Characters worth getting to know

This the third audio book in the series I cannot get enough of. It is not just a series of good legal thrillers; it the story of a family loving one another and growing together.

Poor Narration

If you could sum up Criminal Intent in three words, what would they be?

Suspenseful Intriguing interested

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. You want to know who did it

How could the performance have been better?

Poor narration. I like Mike Daley in the first 2 books in the series but this narration to me changed his personality somewhat.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Another great Sheldon Siegel Story!

Any additional comments?

Let's get Tim Campbell back for the narrator!

Changed the narrator...

The first book in this series was a slow starter but eventually got good. The second book seemed promising as we had several repeat characters but the overall storyline was no where near the quality of the first book.

Since Audible was having a sale I took a chance and bought the rest of the series.

Book 3, this one, they changed the narrator.
The storyline is awful. The narrator is not nearly as good as the first one.

I actually returned the couple books I was able to return.

Very disappointed with this series as it started out pretty good.
