A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

Probably, or else this would have been a much shorter story.

Another excellent instalment
If you have enjoyed the series up until now, you will enjoy this book. The humour, as always, would have to come up a couple of levels to be sophomoric.
The book is starts out with everybody who is still alive, on the Crescent Shadow and then they all get split up from there. From resurrecting Basilisk excrement to pixies giving hand jobs the various tales unfold. There are a few twists, some obvious and some less so. One of the things I liked about this book is that it was a complete story. While there was a setup for the next book, there wasn't a cliffhanger. I would recommend that you read at least the first and second books in the series before reading this one because without the background on the characters, it would be less funny, and less understandable. I did like that the author took for granted that you had read the previous books and didn't spend unnecessary time rehashing past events.

dick jokes
If you've made it this far, you know what this series is about. If you're trying to start with a new series, start at book one. Bevan tells stories like your drunk buddy at the camp fire... except you're interested, the story is coherent, and just when you think you have it all figured out, you're wrong. I absolutely love this series, I enjoy Jonathan Sleep's narration, and I highly recommend it to anyone that will listen.

I'm done with this series. I hated books 4 and 5, but read the reviews and expected this to make up for it. but it didn't...Halfway through and it's still just fart and poop jokes and an over-obsession with pedophilia and gay jokes. not a fan.

Good performance, lacking storyline
Normally I love these books, but for me, this book fell flat. It seemed to be more like the in-between books than a leading title, with characters all over the place on seemingly random journeys that left my husband and I drifting away and having to rewind because it wasn't keeping our attention. I'll definitely be getting the next book, as we're quite invested, but this one just didn't meet our high standards for this series and left us slightly bored and wanting a lot more.

A book too far
I am sorry to say that book 6 is the end for me. Obviously I bought and enjoyed the first 5, but it is just getting tired now. There are some plot twists and some entertaining humor, but it seems like I am now as trapped in a twisted plot as the characters. Just my 2 cents.

A love for shit at its worst
The first 3 pages of the book set the tone for the rest when it goes into disgusting detail of coopers shit. scat fetish is on display again and crude humor. the series should have ended at book 3, this one doesn't lead anywhere ending where it started with the plot not moving forward. He at this point is dragging it out for money sake not story.

Another split story
Bevan splits the party again, but this book is a winner. The Cooper storyline is fantastic. The other storylines are great too, with plenty to recommend each. I'm so happy to hear the author get back to a great series, after a little bit of a stumble with books 4 and 5.

A Book About Poop Jokes
3 chapters of detaild dick and fart jokes later and I can not read any more. There has been a steady decline since the first book in the, what I can only call "readability" of this story. Yes, there have always been D&F jokes in the series, but after what felt like an hour of jiz and shit description I can not take it anymore. the series was a great idea, just poorly executed, good luck.
