Publisher's Summary

Two standalone novels from the queen of mystery, Agatha Christie. From the sprawling Leonide family to dark moors, no one can spin a mystery quite like she can.

Crooked House

The Leonides are one big happy family living in a sprawling, ramshackle mansion. That is until the head of the household, Aristide, is murdered with a fatal barbiturate injection.

Suspicion naturally falls on the old man’s young widow, 50 years his junior. But the murderer has reckoned without the tenacity of Charles Hayward, fiancé of the late millionaire’s granddaughter.

Endless Night

Strapped by a chauffeur's wages, Michael Rogers' want of a better life seems out of reach. Especially elusive is a magnificent piece of property in Kingston Bishop - unil a chance meeting with a beautiful heiress makes his dreams possible. Marrying her is the first step. Building the perfect home is the next.

Unfortunately, Michael ignored the local warnings about the deadly curse buried in the tract of land, and living out his dreams may exact a higher price than he ever imagined. Praised as one of Agatha Christie's most unusual forays into gothic, psychological suspense, this novel of fate, chance, and the nature of evil was a personal favorite of the author's as well.

Enjoyed half

I came into this knowing it was different from her other works. I enjoyed crooked house, did not enjoy endless nights. I did not like the characters or plot and felt disappointed when it ended exactly as I had guessed. with her other works I am hooked from the very begging but these two were alot more slow moving. endless nights especially I felt like I was really forcing myself to continue listening and I kept thinking the ending would be worth it. it's the first time I ever correctly guessed an ending for agatha Christie and honestly I found it anti climatic and disappointing. crooked house, although styled differently still had that twisted ending that I enjoy and felt satisfied reading, as a stand alone book, I would recommend

Great mysteries

Two of Agatha Christie's best mysteries, and two of her least formulaic.

Hugh Frasier's narration is excellent, particularly in Endless Night.

This recording is unfortunately plagued with glitches such that the first syllable of each section of speech is truncated. Very annoying. Nevertheless, this remains my preferred recording because of the strength of the voice acting. If a remastered version were made available, I would snatch it up in a heart beat.

Dark Christie

Not British cozy, these two novels are dark psychological studies. I can see why they were paired. Shows Christie’s versatility.

Amazing

I think these are two of Agatha Christie's best one-off books. The tone, the story are exceptional and suck you in! I've listened to them twice now and will again! Hugh Fraser is as always, a fantastic narrator who does so many voices and accents you'd think it was different actors. Can't recommend enough
