Amazing!!

This is a heartwarming book, my favorite in the series, and Gary Furlong really did an amazing job bringing Cam and Reuben to life!
This will definitely go into my repeat file!!!

Okay but not as good as the first

It’s good but too much drama for me and the back and forth between “I’m okay with it (or I say I am) and I know what I’m getting into” and “I’m pissed off and I will punish, guilt and emotionally and sexually manipulate you” on the part of one of the main characters. He’s a whiny, tantrummy toddler most of the time and doesn’t mean what he says to push the other character. He says he will give him time and then the next second he doesn’t (I’ll give you 6 months, maybe a year but actually after 2 weeks I’ll say I can’t take it anymore and tell you how much you’re hurting me; I’ll tell you it’s not all about you all while making it all about me; I’ll make you pay in other ways). It’s a lot of back and forth and high angst and drama which I have a hard time with. He’s forgetting all the reasons and pressures too on the closeted character. The description of him as “pissy” like it’s okay and acceptable is strange and he makes the closeted character grateful for whatever he can get and just happy for however he’s treated. I can’t imagine it would be great long term in a real relationship. Shades of abuse to me and taking advantage of a character with lots of that in his past already. They did pull it out at the end so that’s good although it was interesting that Cam said “I didn’t realize what a big deal coming out was going to be” like that hadn’t been in Reuben’s mind the whole time…that’s enough of a “told you so” on his behalf.
