Publisher's Summary
Bloomsbury presents Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.
The action-packed, heart-wrenching and fantastically addictive sequel to Sarah J. Maas's epic YA fantasy debut Throne of Glass.
Eighteen-year-old Celaena Sardothien is bold, daring and beautiful - the perfect seductress and the greatest assassin her world has ever known. But though she won the king’s contest and became his champion, Celaena has been granted neither her liberty nor the freedom to follow her heart. Celaena faces a choice that is tearing her to pieces: kill in cold blood for a man she hates or risk sentencing those she loves to death. Celaena must decide what she will fight for: survival, love or the future of a kingdom. Because an assassin cannot have it all.... And trying to may just destroy her.

The protagonist is a hypocrite
The main character is unforgiving if information is withheld, resulting in death, and yet she is constantly withholding information, which could have resulted in death, from those she demands reveal all. its so good, You can’t stop the story once it starts, but that one oxymoron was very frustrating.

Much better than Throne of Glass
I really loved this book, enjoyed it loads more than TOG and found it to be a better plot. I was a little disappointed because I guessed the big reveal/twist early on and felt it was really obvious throughout the book.
Overall, it's a great read, and the performance is decent (the male voices, particularly Dorian and Roland, sounded sort of childish? Not a fan.)

An Enjoyable Listen
I found this to be an enjoyable audio book. It was easy to follow along even with some distractions like work etc. and the narration was pretty good. Some of the male voices were odd, almost childlike instead of sounding manly but still overall well done. The narrator captured Celaena's spirit perfectly.

such a great book. just finished so much I have to say. first amazing story I love the twists and turns this book has. at first when I saw how many books the series has I thought that the books probably drag out a lot but they do not. I completely understand now why there is so many books. and secondly I think I have to add this series to being one of my new favorites. I wish I could say more but spoilers be damned.

Predictable
I originally started this series based on the cover saying something like, “fans of Game of Thrones will enjoy”, this series is not comparable to Game of Thrones. Very juvenile and predictable so far, and this “assassin” is a whiny teenager girl. It’s not terrible and I’m somewhat curious about what will happen so I’m going to continue on to the next one. It’s like one of those terrible movies you can’t stop watching, you know what’s going to happen, but you still have to watch.. 🤦🏼♀️

Pretty good, but probably Geared for Younger Reader
sometimes narrator's accent is too New Yark. Hard to believe main character is so accomplished as just a teenn but if I picture her as at least in her mid 20's it be more credible. but then again it is a fantasy. pretty good story, but I feel rather silly reading this series since I'm in my 60's! :-)

Solid continuation of this epic!
Selena is back with new questions being asked and answering some of the big ones from the last books. Magic is in full swing and it's a bit complicated, almost as complicated as Selena love life which is iffy in my opinion with the drama not as entertaining as the last book. nit picks aside; the tragic elements hit hard, the action is intense, and the schemes are clever. definitely worth a listen if you read the last book!

I am truly blown away at just how deeply good this series is. It’s incredible. I am very upset with myself that I didn’t read them earlier! Do not allow yourself to be scared off by the bad reviews none of them are true. It is written so well, it’s performed well. It’s quickly rose to one of my favorite series that I will read over and over again.
