Publisher's Summary

Bloomsbury presents Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.

Never trust an assassin.

Celaena’s story continues in this second book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.

Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King’s Champion. But she is far from loyal to the crown. Though she goes to great lengths to hide her secret, her deadly charade becomes more difficult when she realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. Her search for answers ensnares those closest to her, and no one is safe from suspicion—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a princess with a rebel heart.

Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie...and what she is willing to fight for.

The second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series returns listeners to a land destroyed by liars, where one woman’s truth is the only thing that can save them all.

String pull you into the next book

The author is good at hiding facts about her characters so you have a string to follow into the next book. There are elements of the story I love and others I rool my eyes at. Mostly the main character feels far to emotional to be an assassin. (Or the best one anyway.) Still book two os more intriguing then book one.

You're going to cry

Celaena Sardothien is back as not just the best assassin of the lands but as the Kings champion. She still needs to find and destroy the dark evil with in the Glass Castle as she struggles to fight mental demons of her past and the real ones attempting to kill her with every new secret she finds. seems she is off the frying pan but dead centre in the flame

I love this story

To be fair, when I was recommended this series I was told it was smutt. Just what I was looking for, so I got really far into the first book and the romance built so beautifully and I was kept waiting. I waited and kept reading because the story was so good and the reader voiced the character very well. To my disappointment it was not smutt, not even a bit. One kiss, that’s all I got! But here I am. I just finished the second and now have to wait forever for my next credit to read the third! Excellent book, great series so far

Better than the first book

This one was really good in my opinion, the MC is way more badass than in the first book. I like the little romance too. For the performance, it was not as bad as the first book but I think I just got use to it at this point. Anyway, jumping straight to the next book!

Predictable

I originally started this series based on the cover saying something like, “fans of Game of Thrones will enjoy”, this series is not comparable to Game of Thrones. Very juvenile and predictable so far, and this “assassin” is a whiny teenager girl. It’s not terrible and I’m somewhat curious about what will happen so I’m going to continue on to the next one. It’s like one of those terrible movies you can’t stop watching, you know what’s going to happen, but you still have to watch.. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Simply Amazing

After physically reading the novellas in Assassins Blade as well as the first book Throne of Glass I stumbled upon this Audio version of book two and in my haste to find out what happens next decided to listen instead of read. Let me just say. IT. WAS. EXCEPTIONAL!! Experiencing such intricate stories, plot twists and developments from such a talented writer through audio?? I’m never going back to traditional reading after this. I must say 10/10 Fully Recommend!

Way better than the first in the series

This book was way more interesting than the first book in this series. The first was slow to get started but this one, was great right from the start.

I don’t get it!? I am sort of offended

These books are the same story that has been written to death. It proves that there is literally nothing new under the sun.
I am offended because they came very highly recommended by people who have similar tastes in books as me.
I finished the first 2 books just to be certain I wasn’t wrong. I have developed no feelings for her characters and I could probably hit the highlights of the 3rd book without ever having to read it.

Sorry for the harsh review. Had I just stumbled onto this book it would have been just “meh”. But coming so highly recommended makes me wonder about people.

Too much

I am all for light and easy fantasy books, but this series is absurd. The story just drags with too much seudo-drama. I am done at book 2.

Just keeps getting better!

So, first I read the series, “A Quart of Thorns and Roses” and loved it. I couldn’t wait for the next in the series, so I read “Crescent City” and LOVED that! Next my friend suggested this series and I’m in love again! Sarah J. Maas!! How do you do it?! They keep getting better!!

Outstanding!

Lives up to an another SJM book. Absolutely amazing story. Keeps you on your toes. I love SJM books. The build of this story was a bit hard to get through at 1st but its those fine details that pave the way for the story to suck you in.
