In this explosive best seller, the United States and the Soviet Union are poised on the brink of Armageddon. Glasnost has failed, Russia is economically desperate, and Gorbachev's successor has launched the first strike in what may become World War III. Only one man knows the full extent of the impending horror - a CIA operative trapped in the Kremlin.

Written by a former Marine Corps pilot, DEFCON One is a blistering scenario of men and war - exciting, tense, and frighteningly real.

Gripping

On a book you can put down; the transitioning between the various story line was superb

I stayed up last night listening to the end of this audiobook, i had to finish it to find out what would happen!

I simply can’t understand a previous rating indicating the side plots are irrelevant, lacks pace, too predictable? Maybe the reviewers name indicates his age. No, this is not a game, it’s not written like lotRPG, there are no stats, there is no mana. What this talking book represents is one of the most suspenseful, well written books I’ve listened to in quite a while. I couldn’t stop listening to it. It’s obvious the Author was a real fighter pilot. His writing is so vivid one can imagine those jets, those ships and subs. I became so interested I looked up some of the real weapons described in the book. Now to the narrator. I’ve not heard of Mr Szarabajka until now. His gravelly voice is such a match for the military Characters one could almost believe he is one. The combination of the writing and the narration make a formidable journey for any listener! I’m looking forward to listening to other talking books by the Author and I hope he’s using the same narrator.
