Publisher's Summary
Investigating the discovery of the body, Sergeant Holly Rudd knows she’s an unwelcome presence in the close-knit community of Bamfield. But she doesn’t expect the residents to be spooked by the mere sight of her. What rattles Holly even more, though, is her overwhelming desire for diver and former Special Forces soldier Finn Carver.
Finn has no doubt that the corpse he found while diving was a victim of foul play - just as there’s no doubt that he wants Holly. Now the two will have to come together to outwit a criminal who’s already gotten away with murder.

Boringly Dissapointed
Every time (EVERY time) the "hero" and "heroine" of this story glance at one another, the plot (such as it is) comes to a dead standstill while whichever protagonist currently holds POV indulges in paragraphs of lustfilled thoughts and then more paragraphs thinking about why it's a bad idea. Over and over again to the point of being stupid.
You expect some of that in romantic suspense but Ms. Anderson manages to make it boring and repetitive instead of using it for character development and excitement. Added to her penchant for having her characters talk almost exclusively in lame cliches, it renders the book almost listenable.
Having said that over 80% of people rated this book 4 or 5 so maybe this style is not for me.
Emily Beresford was good with the delivery of the story.

Some parts were good
Ugh, another story about a cop that pursues a hunch without back up or even a message to her partner/team. Gah, I wonder if this really happens 😞 All the self-doubt and angst was a little over the top. At least, the next book focuses on the older Carver brother and may not be a police procedural. Part of Kindle Unlimited catalog.

Lite Romp
Like much of Toni Anderson’s books - a good beach read. This one has an I nteresting plot, but the romance is very desire/sex based.
The narrator is excellent with the women’s voices, not great with the men’s. The poor guys sound squeaky in intense situations.
Also, In the book Ms Beresford says “coup d’etat” when the appropriate phrase would have been “coup de gras.” Either the editing was poor or the narrator made the substitution. Either way, coup d’etat made no sense in the context.

Good story, Meh, narrator
The story is engaging, a little long with regard to romantic drama. The mystery whodunnit left me guessing until about halfway in, as always, a definite surprise and exciting read. The narrator was terrible.

Dangerous Waters
Great story, subpar narration. Narrator choice of trying to mimic male voices, done poorly! Hard to imagine a manly figure with a voice that sounds like a young teenage boy just leaving puberty!
Narrator should have just used her regular voice through out. Story line and mystery well portrayed by author

what a ride
The author is one very talent she grabs you from the first page throwing in a twist that is full of thrills. She gives you stories with today headlines with such passion, thrills, adventurer that sends chills through your body. This has a great plot and is a well written it will stay with you long after you put the book down. It’s a story that will make you look twice before going down a dark alley or being alone by yourself on a dark road.
The narrator does a good job,I didn't care very much for her male character voices, they just didn't fit the part and didn't really make me feel emotion, her female character voices are good, you can really feel what the characters are going through. At times I had a hard time working out which male was talking and the emotion didn't fit it seemed stressed at times. There are no background noise, no volume changes and no repeating of words. I did enjoy the story and plot.
The author gives you such wonderful character along with supporting characters. They will steal your heart, make you laugh and give you shocks. All are strong, friendly and at times flirty. The author does keep her card close to her chest and keeps you guessing who the killer is. She puts in many twists that will have you with your mouth open. Toni is one of those authors when you see her name you know it is going to be an outstanding read. You know she has some thrills which will get your heart pumping and your mouth hung open. Toni is a wonderful author, her audios are out of this world. I never will forget the first one I listen to I keep looking behind me the whole way to work. If you have read or listen to one of her book you know why she is a bestselling author.
