À propos de cet audio

Meeting by chance at a gambling hall in Europe, the separate lives of Daniel Deronda and Gwendolen Harleth are immediately intertwined. Daniel, an Englishman of uncertain parentage, becomes Gwendolyn's redeemer as she finds herself drawn to his spiritual and altruistic nature after a loveless marriage. But Daniel's path was already set when he rescued a young Jewess from suicide.

Daniel Deronda, George Eliot's final novel, is a remarkable work, encompassing themes of religion, imperialism and gender within its broad and fascinating scope.

What a brilliantly read book ! I loved every bit of Juliet Stevenson's reading and listened to several chapters more than once. I doubt I will be able to listen to another book if not read by her!

OMG what a reader !

Narrator was fantastic. Story was good but not great; no surprises or surprising plot twists. She (the author) is no Charles Dickens but is very poetic and can string sentences together very well. She brought back characters that had been gone since the beginning of the novel and i struggled to remember their relationship to the main characters.

Predictable. Took foreshadowing to a whole new level.

This was a long, long, long book. In many parts it dragged on too long. Juliet Stevenson's performance was stellar and she brought the characters to life. The writing is exquisite. Not my favourite George Eliot book, but there are many memorable parts.

Juliet Stevenson made this 5 stars

I had to stop half way. And the only reason I listened to the first half was because of narrator’s stellar performance

Amazing narration, boring story
