Story
GhostWalker Rubin Campos' rough upbringing made him into the man he is today: strong, steadfast, and wary of outsiders. When he and his brother return to their family's homestead in the Appalachian Mountains, he can immediately sense that a stranger has taken up residence in their cabin - a woman who just happens to be a GhostWalker too. Jonquille is deceptively delicate but clearly a fighter. She also doesn't seem to care that Rubin could kill her where she stands.

Story
The new Carpathian audiobook from the number one New York Times best-selling "queen of paranormal romance" (J. R. Ward). The victim of a terrible vampire experiment, Emeline Sanchez fears she will never be free of their taint. But can an ancient Carpathian heal her heart, body, and soul, or will she always be caught between the vampire and Carpathian worlds?
Written by: Christine Feehan
Publisher's Summary
Stolen from her home at a young age and tormented for centuries, Elisabeta Trigovise is scared to show herself to anyone. Even though she has been rescued and is now safe within the Carpathian compound, she has lived in fear for so long she has no idea how to survive without it. She wants to answer the siren call of her lifemate - but the very thought terrifies her.
Before he found Elisabeta, Ferro Arany was an ancient warrior without emotion. Now that his senses have come alive, he knows it will take more than kind words and soft touches to convince the fractured woman that they are partners, not master and prisoner. For now, he will give her his strength until she finds hers, allowing the steady rhythm of his heart to soothe Elisabeta's fragile soul.
But even as she learns to stand on her own, the vampire who kept her captive is desperate to claim her again, threatening the song Elisabeta and Ferro are writing together.

How can they get authors name wrong
The jacket is good on audible but what downloaded first says Christine Feehan then a repeat with Caden Feehan? Other than that typical great reading and story. Just didn’t resonate with me for quite awhile after that discordant note.

Your usual Christine Feehan
This was the usual fare for Christine Feehan's Dark series. Better than some and not as good as others. My main complaint is with the narration. Jim Frangione is one of the usual narrators for the Dark series (and generally one of my favorites) so I don't understand why he choose to pronounce several of the recurring names differently in this one than he did in the previous stories.

The Dark Series Thrives
I’ve read all of the Dark series. In fact, I’ve read all of Christine Feehan’s published works. It seemed the Dark series was veering off course. I enjoy having our Capathians interact with the modern world. From the beginning this was always apart of the plot development. As more locations were added, I lost the Dark Hunter feel. This story weaves in many old friends. The character development is consistent. And despite the modern settings, our hunters maintain their identity. As strong female characters are also a part of the ongoing series, I truly enjoyed meeting such a gifted Carpathian female. Her discovery and beginning trust in her own talents made this story a standout for me. I’m never going to be a spoiler. This is a story you should discover for yourself. I don’t think it’s a good first read for those who haven’t read any of the previous books in the series. As a stand alone, you will not get many of the nuances, or understand the depth of meaning in the words and actions of the more serious or even the comical reactions in most of the characters, especially the ancients. I hope our author will continue to to add ethnic diversity in the series. It isn’t always easy or comfortable writing the language style and culture of groups that are not your own. But I was thrilled at the inclusion of characters who look like me. They were alluded to in this story,so I hope they will return in a more meaningful way. Finally, the end of the book left me ready for the next. Great way to end one story and set up the next, involving young Josef, a character I feel I know, love, and now I’m anxious for whatever comes next for him.

Good installment
Book 34 of the Dark series has proven to be one of Feehan’s best efforts in the last several installments and has minimal repetitions. Yes, it did start out rocky but gradually got better.
The Publisher’s Summary gives minimal info but hints at the story basics. Bottom line is this is the end of the Malinov brothers story arc except for intro of their cousins Cornell and Dorrin, and intro of the secret Council Membership.
Frangione does a good job of narration but I wish he had pronounced Joie’s name correctly. I’ve heard Joey, sometimes Joy but NOT like joie de vivre. Come on! Traian Trigovese & Joie Sanders have been in several books since book 11 Dark Descent.

INCORRECT PRONUNCIATION OF CHARACTERS NAMES!!
THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE AUDIBLE EDITION!!
It seems the Narrator Jim Frangione has Incorrectly changed the pronunciation of two of the characters in Dark Song. "Genevieve" we first meet in "Dark Carousel" and "Joie" lifemate to Traian Trigovise "Dark Descent". At First I didn't know who he was talking about. I keep thinking who are these characters? Soon it hit me he changed the way there names are pronounced. Why??? Is this a technical error. He got Genevieve's name correct in Dark Carousel. I have no answer for what happen here.
The story is very good I loved the way CF handles Elisabeta's PTSD. Ferro is so gentle and kind to her. Elisabeta has some astounding gifts. She is so strong and talented. I just wish she had more interaction with her brother Traian Trigovise and his lifemate Joie.
Josef was the man of the hour. I loved Josef in this story. He was brilliant and fearless. Still very insecure but just a great character. He adds so much to the storyline!
CF has expanded her storyline and the world of the Carpathian. I can't wait to see where this new storyline leads!! I hope it leads us back to The Carpathian Mountains. I am a bit sick of being in the U.S. . The Carpathian mountains are more realistic environment for Vampires and Carpathian. The U.S. is just over crowded with people in the cities and the rural areas are crowded too.
What I didn't like about Dark Song. One The Ancients from the monastery against and not trusting the Ancients and supporters of there Prince Mikhail. I also, didn't like some parts of the new storyline with Mikhail is being watched to see if he has to be overthrown by this ancient Carpathians watching him. This is just wrong!!
I am going to read my Hardcover book!! I am not happy with the audible narration!!

I'm going up in flames of annoyance
Christine Feehan is a book I read because I'm not ready to commit to other books. when I am cleaning the house, they are literally all the same book, somebody will "go up in flames" the dialogue is canned but I still buy or rent them lol so I guess that says more about me than the writing. This is a good book if you don't want anything serious, your in quarantine and you don't want to binge watch Netflix, or listen to music, but you don't want to commit to the serious anxiety a book your invested in may cause you lol. this is the filler story not bad, but it could be better.
Jim Frangione is a good reader, but the new pronunciations of names did throw me off, maybe it was a correction or something.

I'm so sad...
oh my gosh, you guys! I love her stuff and was so excited for this to come out! it. was. awful. they spent 99.5% of the time on constant affirmation for Elizabetta. well at first it was sweet, but it just kept goin and goin...I get that she was traumatized, but good-ness! MOVE. ON. with something, anything, that would give the illusion of a storyline. 🙄 wasted. credit. 😠

About Time
I absolutely love the Carpathians.
It seems like forever between books.
I love how you bring characters from past books together in this one.
I love the way you bring the feelings back I had while reading past books, and it's like a really good feeling to go back there.
It makes me want to read the series all over again.
This is why I moan when I get to the end, but can't wait for the next one.
Good job!

🌻I love this series!🌻
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
I admit, I put this book off, for awhile. From previous books, we know of the awful abuse that the Heroine had suffered and I knew that overcoming that would be difficult; and it was. However, the caring and willingness for the Hero to accept that he would need to change his ways, was so very touching. True self reflection is very difficult, and the fact that this ancient warrior was able to access and adapt to his mate’s unique needs, was inspiring . In addition, experiencing the Heroine’s struggle and each accomplishment was very touching.
There is also a great battle of good against evil and a mystery that had to be solved. What more could a lover of Paranormal Romance want?
