Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Iris Johansen is back with another high octane thriller that will leave your mind racing and your heart pounding.

Despite her tragic childhood, violin prodigy Cara Delaney has finally found peace in her career as a professional musician and stability in her relationship with her guardians, forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and ex-Navy SEAL Joe Quinn. If only Jock Gavin, Cara's lifelong friend and a man with his own twisted history, would even talk to her, everything would be perfect.

But the carefully constructed life Cara has built for herself is suddenly threatened when she is kidnapped by a mysterious man from her grandfather's past, setting off a violent chain of events that puts everyone Cara loves in danger. Will Cara become a tribute to her family's dark past, or will she be able to keep herself and her loved ones alive?

Another great book

I don't think there could ever be a bad Irish Johnson book. Strong characters, intrigue and Elisabeth Rodgers. A hit.

ANOTHER HOME RUN!

Love this series!

I will not be redundant by writing what’s already in the summary.

What I can say is that this is another great Eve Duncan story. And I will also add that Michael is now ten years old, and his “gifts” are growing, which made for a more interesting story.

The narration was very enjoyable, too.

Recommended story!

hard to finish

I struggled to finish this book. I found it drawn out and more boring then not.

Narrator is cold and imperious with her characters portrayals.

So much potential I feel is being degraded by the narrator. The last three I just didn't think I could ever listen to anymore. Kyria is a character I wanted to see her evolvement into the adult world and where her adventures would lead her. I also like that Michael is becoming a strong character,c for new interesting facets to come shining through. I've read all the books beginning with Eve and the spin off characters. But, to be honest, the narrator leaves me cold enough to call it quits.

Very good story with great narration

Very interesting story, so glad these two finally got together romantically. Loved the way the story progressed with Michael, look forward to more of his talents. Wished there had been more to Cara & Jock’s love making except once, thou it was very good. Wished there had been less of her grandfather in the story. Over all worth the credit. Terrific narration by Elisabeth Rodgers, she does amazing accents and men’s voices.

Make it stop

This is just hours of whining. Endlessness of stubborn people bickering as if they are all the most noble thing in the world. Why is the highly trained assassin just a babysitter? Why is there randomly a psychic kid? Why do they all complain so much? The narrator ties but it just sounds like hours of boring, dull middle class bored women droning on. And I never want to hear the word nipples again. I was so determined to finish just out of sheer hope it got interesting. The root of the idea is good. It is completely underdeveloped and boring.

Jock Wins and Michael Sees

I absolutely love the Eve Duncan Series and the other novels that include her and her family.

If you will take the time to read her latest on this crew of characters, you will understand my headline.

Enjoy!

too romantic for my taste

The plot was interesting, but I wasn't at all up for the cheesy romance part of the book. I considered asking for a refund but didn't.

Insipid and annoying

This book was just not for me. I appreciate the narrator’s desire to personalize the characters through nationality accents, and once I got used to them it made following the characters easier. But initially I didn’t care for the changing accents that were somewhat confused. Then I realized just how challenging that must have been! The story? I kept skipping whole sections of listening to super annoying characters ranting about how they were right. It got tiresome quickly as you could predict everything they were going to say after about a quarter of the book. No need to beat a dead horse... I only finished this because I had a long drive and didn’t have anything else downloaded.
