Pursued by Blades of the Red Church and soldiers of the Luminatii legion, she may never escape the City of Bridges and Bones alive. Her mentor Mercurio is now in the clutches of her enemies. Her own family wishes her dead. And her nemesis, Consul Julius Scaeva, stands but a breath from total dominance over the Republic.

But beneath the city, a dark secret awaits. Together with her lover Ashlinn, brother Jonnen, and a mysterious benefactor returned from beyond the veil of death, she must undertake a perilous journey across the Republic, seeking the final answer to the riddle of her life. Great Read but had issues

In the final installment, the story lived up to it's theme. There were plenty of twists, turns, heroics, and fighting. I did not like all of the scenes/ending but that was because I favored one character over another and they got screwed. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth for Mia. I couldn't understand her actions. Still don't. This was still a good read or listen really since I AudioBooked it. The AB had issues- very apparent voice-overs, repeated passages, and towards the end some of the voices were different. Overall however, I feel like Holter Graham did a great job. His delivery of the story really got me into it!

Whisper narration annoying

The story was good the normal narration was good. The whispering characters were so annoying it made my teeth itch. The producer gets negative stars for that choice. The narrator I’m sure did what he was instructed to do. REALLY REALLY BAD TECHNIQUE especially for long sections of narration!!!!

Really Disappointed

Loved the first 2 books and couldn’t wait on the last but was just let down with the insert of long drawn out sex scenes that were just stupid they just took away from the bones of the story anyway this may have been the last book I read of Jay Kristoff........

Pretty good ending to a great series. (No spoilers)

What can I say… Book 2 was so good it set an almost impossible bar. This was a good solid ending to a great series. Though I confess to being a little disappointed with the predictable, somewhat anticlimactic ending, it was nevertheless a satisfying end that answered most of your questions.

Darkdawn was probably on par with Nevernight, which was a great book. Godsgrave was just such a masterful nail-biter cliffhanger, whereas Darkdawn lost a bit of steam by the end of it.

Go into it with slightly lower expectations and you will probably love it. Expect it to top Godsgrave, and you might be disappointed.

That being said, if you liked the first two books you’d have to be an idiot not to read the third. Well worth the time – Just the ending was a bit blah. I confess I stayed up half the night listening to the end of Godsgrave, and I fell asleep thirty minutes before the end of this book.

If you liked this series I highly recommend The Res Sister by Mark Lawrence. Everything he’s written has been superb, but the parallels between the ancestor trilogy and nevernight are crazy. Equally enjoyable series, though I find Lawrence’s writing style to be far superior.

Kinda disappointed

I feel like the story is a step down from the second book. The ending as huge of a scale it was is underwhelming and felt like an episode of dragon ball z or something similar. The constant 4th wall breaking about the foot notes was annoying. You can tell the author was really mad about people not liking the foot notes in the previous books. At one point he literally says "if you don't like the foot notes f#@k you. How about you write a book since you're an expert of literature". I didn't mind the foot notes at all till he kept pointing them out for a joke that got old the first time. Speaking of humor,I didn't find myself laughing like I did with previous books. None of the jokes were hitting.

I had a hard time enjoying most of the cast with the exception of a few(cloud was great). Ashlyn turn from a fun, independent, smart mouth assassin to a petty love sick puppy. Her whole character now is being Mia's girlfriend and never being anything else. A complete downgrade, which sucks since she was my favorite in the first two books. The sex scenes also overstay their welcome. Don't want to get into huge spoilers, but I do admit near the start of the book there are some great twist and turns with decent character development at the halfway point with some hyped action scenes sprinkled throughout. Overall Darkdawn is a disappointment especially by being the last book in the series. Audio book wise, the reader did a nice performance. His male voices were limited and there were a couple of times were he changed a character voice for a chapter or mix them up,but not bad.

A ALMOST PERFECT ENDING

third book absolutely excellent story was very well written action scenes for well-thought-out almost seamless the writer gives you exactly what he said he would give you and book one the story about the beginning the middle and the end of the main character's life and somehow still made it a happy ending sorry no spoiler so you're going to have to read it but it's definitely a better read then book 2 sorry but I'm not letting it slide that a good 60% ove book 2 was stolen from Spartacus blood and Sand smh.

Third Time Is Not A Charm

I'm so disappointed in this audiobook. Being the third and final installment, you'd think they would pull out all the stops, but that wasn't the case. The story crawls and the narration is subpar at times. I think I made it through an hour and a half before I quit. I loved the first two, so this review is really heartbreaking for me.
