My New Favorite Zombie Series!!!

I loved this Audiobook. I honestly could not stop listening. The story is really really good and the characters are so likable. The narrator does a really nice job of telling the story and bringing the characters to life; He is really easy on the ears too. I am a huge dog lover as well that just sealed it for me. I will listen again and am really looking forward to the next in this series and hope It will have many more to follow. I loved it!

A zompoc expedition for a teen & his dog...

Dead State: Fallout (A Post Apocalyptic Survival Thriller, Book 1) by Derek Shupert and narrated by B. C. Archer is a good zompoc adventure for young adults.

What’s it about? James, his dog Duke, and his dad are on a routine hunting trip when the zombie apocalypse begins. Chasers (aka zombies) are all around. One thing leads to another and James and Duke try to make their way to his family. Along the way they meet some good and bad folks. The story is a bit slow going in the beginning- lots of hunting, life lessons, and setting of the story, but if you keep with it, it does pick up the pace about an hour in and turns out to be a good one. I’d like to see a more details and a little less dialogue in future installments, but that's my personal opinion, others might feel different.

The narrator, B. C. Archer, was good overall. I’d like to hear just a little more difference with the character voices in the future books. I’d listen to him again.

Overall I recommend. There is a lot of potential for this one, I’ll definitely check out the second book.

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: This is a story about the zombie apocalypse- violence, death, and similar subject matter occurs throughout the book. Hunting animals for food (including cutting and cooking), guns, bridge collapse. S-word x1.

*I won this in a contest, not sure if I need to write this, but here it is just in case ;)

Lovable Teenage boy and his Dog - Zombie Survival

This audiobook grabbed me from very early in chapter 1. You get to meet the boy and his dog and his strong father figure starting out on a hunting trip in the Oregon Woods... it’s a great start to a great story. The woods hold secrets that grip and terrify this tight-knit family, and so begins this Survival adventure. Really looking forward to more in this series

Great coming of age story in a zombie world

Thrilling story of a survival, friendship, and humanity. I loved all the main characters James, Dawson, and of course, Duke. Several parts of the story were very touching. Narrator did a great job delivering the emotion of each scene. Waiting for a new installment of the Dead State Series.

PAS Thriller

A young (too young and immature for me) protagonist takes on a fairly typical zombie apocalypse with a string of family, friends and enemies falling around him. This book sets up it's sequel well, and if you can relate to 15-year old James and how he handles himself, continue his journey with him. Narration was good as well.

A Boy and His Dog - Loved this TEOTWAWKI Story!

Not usually my genre - as I usually listen to Prepper & Military Fiction - but I love dogs - and Since I read that this was also about a teenage boy with his dog - I could not resist. I'm glad I got it - I loved this story. It was well written and well told. I will definitely purchase the remaining books in this series. Hope this helps you decide - I think you will be pleased with this Audiobook ~ Christian M.

Teen boy and his dog in a post apocalyptic world

FABULOUS — OK, so I have to admit I’m somewhat of a zombie and post apocalyptic junkie !! It’s by far my favorite genre of audiobooks… I loved this spin on the zombie apocalypse because it was centered around a young teenage boy left on his own in an apocalyptic world with his faithful and fiercely protective dog. I loved the story, I loved the dog, I loved the boy, and I loved the narrator… It must be hard to tell a story from a young teenager’s perspective l, and in the teenagers voice, and I thought the narrator did an excellent job. I cannot wait for the second book in the series - as I loved the first one so very much. Keep them coming!! I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone who loves zombie stories :-)

Gripping Survival Story to curl up with at night

Loved it - really. I love to listen at night before bed when it’s dark outside and the lights are low... this was a very cozy and spooky story and the characters just like you and me. I loved Duke the lovable but super smart and brave dog, as well as the two teenage boys. The father is a really cool character too. I’m hooked and ready for book 2

Dog Lovers Zombie Apocalypse - Fabulous Story

I’m a huge fan of post apocalyptic books and I adore my big ole lovable dog. So this Audiobook was written just for me :)
The story is very engaging and the narrator is easy-going with a soft tone - I like that. It makes it easy to listen for hours at a time without becoming annoying. I really liked Dawson and of course Duke. James is a great first person character with tons of discovery ongoing throughout the story. I will definitely buy book 2.
