She's back, and they’ll regret what they’ve done. Mildred Wells had a miserable life that carried over to a lonesome death. In the end, they betrayed her - played her the fool. She was the last to know, but there's still time to catch up. She'll formulate her painful plan as they live their lives in blissful ignorance. With no more family, only vengeance drives her; in fact, it’s all she has anymore. She would rather have rested in peace, but for Mildred, dying isn't so easy.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And that is the best way to sum up Mildred Wells. You thought this other worldly being was bad ass in book one, well book two tells a new story and it transforms our antagonist into a supernatural being much more powerful than we ever anticipated. Ol'Milly has a few new tricks up her sleeve and neither Tim or Holly seem to stand a chance this time.

The first half of the book gives a better explanation of why Mildred Wells is who she is. A dark supernatural being that has a sort of magical power. She's not the only one of her kind, there are others. Michael Clark spends some time exploring the occult and these other haunting beings. This part of the book was great because it really sets the reader up for some extremely tense and suspenseful scenes. After you get some background on where Mildred Wells comes from, the book quickly shifts and thats when things start getting really scary. The protagonist thought his troubles were behind him but its only just begun.

The Patience of a Dead Man series is wildly entertaining and scary as hell. I really enjoyed book one but book two exceeded my expectations. Michael Clark knows how pen a cast of lovable characters, even the antagonist is someone you anticipate with delight and anxious terror. Dead Woman Scorned takes the reader on a grim journey that explores the occult and those who practice the dark arts. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking a spooky read that will leave you with the feeling of dread at the sight of the common house fly.
