Now, she must solve the mystery or risk losing her new home and the chance for a fresh start. But who would want to murder a gardener in a sleepy little village? Could a reclusive inventor have something to do with the killing? What about the brooding crime author next door? And why is her long-lost cousin so desperate for her to sell the cottage?

Poppy might not know her pansies from her petunias, but that doesn't stop her digging for clues. The only problem is - she could be digging her own grave, too....

Although I found the main character to be a bit dim, she was likeable enough and the other characters provided enough intrigue to balance things out. I figured it out pretty early on but that didn't dampen my desire to continue listening to the story. My first time listening to this author. Looking forward to listening ro the rest of the series.

Narrator was good - varied voices and easy to follow. Lead character was portrayed as naive and at times, dim witted, which I found frustrating. Lots of speculation and jumping to conclusions.

I enjoyed the first instalment of this cozy gardening mystery. It was nice to see the transition of the main character from an unconfident young woman to one with evolving confidence and connection to a new role model and evolution of new skills. The cat is a fun touch. The narrator is very skilled. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this book,light read but kept me guessing. I could picture the english cottage and garden. Narrator was perfect.
