Story
My name is Melany Richmond, and for my entire life, I’ve been an outcast, an orphan tossed around like a ship in a storm. I don’t think that gods really exist. I never even received my Shadowbox when I turned 18. Maybe, because nobody knows my true birth date or because not even the gods care about me. After all, I'm a blue-haired rebel and a troublemaker with tattoos all over my arms.

There are three rules to survive the elite supernatural school: Do not talk or even look at The Seven, the uber-powerful supes that rule the academy. My one piece of advice: Never kiss a stranger. See, I kind of kissed this sexy man at the bar on a dare once, and it turns out he’s a royal fae destined to be my mate. Now, I’ve been dragged to the Elemental Fae Academy to control the powers I unlocked that night. So, kissing? Yeah, that won’t happen again. Nope. Lesson learned.

Our task is simple. Kill all the demon baddies before they wreak havoc on the human realm and destroy the fragile peace between our two worlds. Easy peasy, right? Well if I can't figure out how to get this devil's mark off my chest, the demons won't stop coming for me. Luckily, my long lost father has shown up promising to help me get rid of it. But do I really want a dark warlock's help? Then there's my love life - or serious lack there of. I broke all the rules my first semester, and the worst was falling for my demon bad boy instructor.

Will Melany survive her hidden darkness?
Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel Summary: Melany thought her life was finally on track. She had a place to call home with friends and a boyfriend until fate stepped in placing her fate in Hades hands. Instead of training with the others she was hidden away in the underworld training with the Furies. Now her training may be brutal, but Melany won’t give up or give in. Time passes leaving her alone and secluded until she is allowed to return to the academy where she learns all is not what it seems. Her difficult training sets her apart making it difficult to fit back in. Melany’s friends never gave up on her after she disappeared and stood by her when her obvious changes made it hard to fit in. Melany faces the choice to learn to control the darkness she has inside or give that darkness control. This was an intricate story about friendship, growing up in a paranormal setting. The problems the students faced were both different and similar to those that young adult deal with all the time. It was wonderful how Melany’s friends stood by her when others tried to get her expelled knowing there was more going on than what was seen on the surface. Adding the gods of old with their strengths and weaknesses created unexpected conflicts. The audio-book version brought the characters alive through the narrators as the story unfolded.

fantastic narrator but couldn't keep my interest.
I enjoyed the first book but couldn't get into the second. It just seemed to fall into that extremely generic academy book with: 1. special main character with powers revealed and she is special 2. sexy love interest that will do anything for her 3. loyal best friend that will do anything for her 4. archnemesis girl who tries to mess with her 5. MC is nice to everyone I was just really in the mood for some twists, and this did not deliver for me. however, if you love these type of academy books, then it'll fit right into that niche and you'll likely love it! not to mention, the narrator Vanessa Moyen, as per usual, knocks it out of the park!

Angel of Death in the making
I'm a huge sucker for Academy books especially ones about Greek mythology. I had been waiting for this to come out as an audiobook since I finished book one. Melany had just been chosen by Hades to go train in the underworld leaving her beau Lucien and all her friends at the academy. Since discovering the death of her adoptive family Melany has been aching for answers but being locked away in the underworld makes her feel trapped. She is unfamiliar with the myth of Persephone which becomes more and more clear through the book. I was so excited to see how they portrayed Hades and Persephone as they are my favorite part of Greek mythology and I'm devastated. I love versions of Hades where he isn't as awful as everyone makes him seem (Lore Olympus anybody!?) but their version makes him a total creep. Persophone is MIA and everyone is being very secretive about what has happened to her. Did she run away? Has she been kidnapped? Did she die??? As a goddess, she can't really die, and even if she did wouldn't she just go to the underworld? Maybe she has been banished to Tartarus for a crime? Melany trains with the Harpies and seems to lose her moral compass along the way. Whenever she joins with the academy for a few training exercises she can't seem to work as a team and regularly loses her temper in bloodlust rages. I'm 100% in favor of the protagonist slowly becoming evil over the course of the story but I'm not sure that's where they are trying to go. Even though their Hades isn't my speed the other depictions of the gods are GREAT!! Laid-back Demeter (who must know where her daughter is????), Ares and Aphrodite colluding together for evil schemes, ignorant but bossy Zeus, Helpful Hephaestus. The feels of the gang growing closer together while Melany is so lonely hurts my heart. I'm really excited to know what it is that Ares and Aphrodite are planning and if they are actually working under the orders of someone else. The ending left on a cliff hanger monster attack and I'd really like to know how they deal with the grief and devastation that comes after but I'm also really scared that Lucian and Melany won't be a thing, or that Hades will be even worse than he has been so far. I'm so conflicted and the best solution: Onwards to Book 3!!!!

Gets crazier and crazier!!
Demigods Academy: Year 2 by Elisa S. Amore and Kiera Legend and narrated by Stephen Dexter and Vanessa Moyen was a must get after Year 1. Meet Melanie, our FMC, who has been whisked off to Hades Hall, below the academy, in the Underworld. Her boyfriend Lucien tries to get her out of there, with a few of her friends but typical Hades, blocks them from seeing her. Meanwhile, Melanie is training with the 3 Furies, befriending Cerberus, and using the abilities that got her through the trials to try and get back to her friends, only to find out that she has changed more than she thought. Hades has his own plans for Melanie, which almost gets her killed. Zeus decides to help out the mortal realm by sending some of his best students to help battle an out of control fire, that ends up in yet another heavy duty cliffhanger. Would I be willing to listen to this book again? YES many times over Would I be willing to recommend this book to others? YES I feel that anyone over 13 should be able to handle everything in it and even learn something new as each God/Demigod/Hero is accurate to many reports I have written concerning the Greek Mythology as it pertains to said people.

Captivating sequel in a great series!
I love audiobooks that have a female voice for a female PoV and a male voice for male PoV. Both narrators did an amazing job. Listening to this story and following along was such a breeze I didn’t even notice time passing by lol. The story is told alternating between Melany’s pov and Lucian’s pov, which is a welcome tactic because when a group seperates, you can still follow with both parties. I’ll admit, I did worry a bit that the story would focus on one part after the event of book 1 and that the other part would fall away, that it would be on hold for a certain amount of time but my worries were uncalled for. This is by far my easiest read for the year, I love this world and it’s characters. Keep in mind though that this story does end on a sort of “nooooooooo don’t let this be the end of the book please” kind of cliffhanger. This book was over way too soon. It has been a long time since a story could grab my attention like that, or rather, holding that attention, that is. I can’t wait to see what Melany and her friends will have to endure in book 3. I’m slightly worried about so much still needing to be told and there being only one installment left. But since my worries at the beginning of this book proved to be uncalled for, I can only assume these ladies will nail that plotline and I can’t wait to get to know it!

Good second entry
I received an audio version of this book for review; all opinions are my own. I enjoyed this second foray into Demigods Academy. I enjoyed Melany's claiming and how t the authors remind us that Hades isn't the "devil" we all associate him with, I loved seeing Melany grow into her own and become strong and fierce. On the flip side, I hated her boyfriend's sections. The narration is all wrong; he sounds way too old for Melany and their school. Plus his "save the damsel in distress" is old hat and I was so glad when she was amazing without him. I'm ready for the next book and to see what happens to Melany next.

Captivating
I really enjoyed the world the author created. The characters and the storyline itself just keeps you interested. Melanie is sent to her clan apart from her friends and her dude. She tries to find out what happened to her mother and encounters a lot more than she can bargain for. Anyways towards the ending they are sent to a mission and Lucien gets hurt and you are left with a cliffhanger. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment. Narrators did a fantastic performance bringing characters to life and perfect pace. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
