About this listen
Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea...
Police Chief Delaney Reed is good at keeping secrets for the beach town of Ordinary Oregon - just ask the vacationing gods or supernatural creatures who live there.
But with the first annual Cake and Skate fundraiser coming up, the only secret Delaney really wants to know is how to stop the unseasonable rain storms. When all the god powers are stolen, a vampire is murdered, and her childhood crush turns out to be keeping deadly secrets of his own, rainy days are the least of her worries.
Hunting a murderer, outsmarting a know-it-all god, and uncovering an ancient vampire’s terrifying past isn’t how she planned to spend her summer. But then again, neither is falling back in love with the one man she should never trust.
Performed by Colleen Delany, Henry Kramer, Karen Novack, Michael Glenn, Richard Rohan, Amanda Forstrom, Chris Genebach, Tia Shearer, Tony Nam, Bruce Alan Rauscher, Nick DePinto, Holly Vagley, Jonathon Church, Paul Reisman, Ren Kasey, Ken Jackson, Dani Stoller, Joe Mallon, Eric Messner, Michael John Casey, Tim Carlin, Steve Wannall, Lise Bruneau, Mort Shelby, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Andy Brownstein, Alejandro Ruiz, David Zitney, Scott McCormick.

But when the our supposedly strong female police chief, Delaney, couldn't manage even a single question in an official 'interrogation' before coming undone and mooning over her love interest, I gave up on being able to take this character seriously.
Book 1 made me happily hop right on to Book 2. But Book 2 turned me off the series altogether.
Way Too Much Weak Fawning from the Supposedly Strong Female Lead

I like the world they live in all those magical creatures owning shops and living in harmony with each other, even participating in town bake & cook off’s is just so cute!
The love story is a little frustrating as the whole break up was stupid and they get back together so it kinda feels like it never should have happened. But I guess they had to really open up to each other about their real jobs and the town before they could truly be together.
She seems to get herself in a pickle each book, I wish she would rely on her sisters more.
But she feels like the only way to protect her town is by self sacrifice over and over.
The storyline between the ancient vampires was interesting but the best part is just seeing characters come together
Great

Again I think it may be the dramatize adaptation that is not doing the book justice but I have no desire to read the actual novel. There was so much going on and not enough going on and again it could be the adaptation but the last 10 minutes of the story and that’s when we find out who is doing all of this??!! and it ends in a cliffhanger??
The romance ugh I think the entire book probably would’ve done better without it.
Done with the series
