Publisher's Summary

When the cards are stacked against you, the Kings will even the odds.

For Ward “King” Kingston the role of protector, forged by fire and tragedy, is one he takes seriously. When King is asked to safeguard the son of a four-star general and friend, he is pulled back into the world of government black ops on a mission that raises painful memories from his past. The moment King meets Leo, amid the chaos of a lockdown at a secret black site, it’s clear he’s never faced a challenge like this - one that will test his unwavering sense of control.

Leopold de Loughrey is a misunderstood genius whose anxiety and insecurities are sent into overdrive when he is forcefully recruited to work on a top-secret project. Terrified of what his role as "invaluable asset" means, Leo’s stress leads to disappearances, arguments, and blowups that threaten the project and Leo’s future. King’s arrival is a calm in the storm for Leo and his frenetic thoughts.

King and Leo couldn’t be more different, yet as they navigate the dangers of a secret multi-agency operation and face unknown threats, their differences could be what saves them. Neither man believes a happily ever after is in the cards, but their hearts might just prove them wrong...if they can survive a deadly betrayal.

Perfect wrap up to this story ARC

OMG this was sooooooooo good. I've loved King since day one & couldn't wait for his book. Leo was absolutely perfect for King. Leo is a genus but he is not a people person. King has a favored called in by Leo’s dad asking King to protect his son. As soon as King sees Leo, he falls for him lock stock and barrel, but he isn’t going to give in because he feels that he is too old for Leo. The sexual tension crackles off the pages and once they give in, they totally burn it up. I can't wait to see where the spin-off takes us. As always, Greg Boudreaux knocked it out of the ball park!!

My favorite of the 4 Kings

This is the best one in the series. King ended up being one of my favorites after this book; so different from previous books. Also, how can you not fall in love with Leo. Fast paced and low to mid angst.

beautifully written and narrated..

Great ending to this series, the characters strengths and love for one another was felt throughout the books. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense as the chapters unfold and the enemy gets revealed. My favorite character ofcourse is Ace but much love goes to the rest of the boys.

Perfect end to the series!

This series has been such a favourite of mine and I’ve been hanging out for King’s story. He’s always been the King that has been most closed off and hard to read and I’ve been really looking forward to seeing what’s going on under the surface. This book didn’t disappoint at all! King is a beautiful soul but has been struggling with the loss of some of his men in Syria ever since it happened. Leo is just what he needs to help him realise he deserves love. King is so funny and sweet underneath it all and Leo is simply adorable, I fell for him at once. This book is full of humour, sarcasm and great banter between the Kings and all their men and is topped off by the amazing love King and Leo have for each other. This was an amazing end to a fabulous series.

Once again Greg Boudreaux did a brilliant job with the narration, he has the perfect voice for this series.

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review

Delightful and surprisingly sweet romance

Don’t get me wrong, it’s more than sweet. It’s sexy and hot as well. But it’s that sweet, warm, slow-building attraction between Leopold de Loughrey and Ward "King" Kingston that makes this story stand out for me in the series. I love that King is so very different with Leo than we have seen him before with his family. Who he is with Leo is who he is with those he loves, with the addition of that whole other level of sensuality and passion that makes him more than just a charismatic and caring leader. And that’s what I look for in a romance where there’s more going on than two people falling in love.

I just love these men...Leo is the lion he’s always been, coming into his own with King, and King is the teddy bear that Leo evokes. There’s nothing soft about King except with Leo, and there’s nothing hard about Leo except when it concerns King. And the transformation that their love causes is beautiful!

Which brings me to the other reason I love this story. I really enjoy romantic suspense, and given all that happens in this story with Leo’s covert work for the government and King providing security, I’d say the writer got the suspense down pat. What I appreciate though is that, for me, the suspense doesn’t overshadow the romance. I read and enjoyed this for the love story. Everything else is icing.

Although I had already read this novel, it was lovely to hear it performed and nothing changed for me. I enjoyed it as well as when I read it for myself.

I’m sad to have finished so soon!

This is been one of my favorite series of books to listen to! Over the four books I fell in love with every character and found myself wanting to be part of that family of people! I am a hopeful romantic and all four of these books makes me want to step up my game! I love the technical side the intrigue and the way they all work together!
Greg Boudreaux does a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life! In my opinion he’s one of the best narrators out there! Thanks Charlie for another great book!

King finally gets his man!

King is the tough and haunted leader of Four Kings Security, the man others rush to follow, who keeps fighting through horrible odds, who would do anything for his friends, and who never laughs. When he does a favor for the general he trusts and respects, he meets the general's son Leo, and King's world changes forever.
I love King, and his reactions to nerdy, brilliant, adorable Leo are priceless. Leo doesn't see the man who never laughs, because with Leo, King can't help but laugh. He also can't help but fall in love.
This book is full of action, humor, heartache, and so much love. All the men from Four Kings and their partners are here, and the way they bring Leo into their fold is wonderful. Great narration only enhances the story. This is the pairing of an author and narrator I love, and I recommend this book (and the series) with no reservations.

Hate to see the series end!

For King, at the age of 41, after losing half his men in Syria, he never thought he would have a happily ever after. He never wanted to go through the pain of losing someone again. Enter Leo! Leo is the 25 year old son of King's former General, and is a computer coding wiz! King is hired to help protect Leo, bringing in his brothers to help him (giving you a chance to revisit your favorite characters from previous books).
This book is absolutely my favorite of the King Security Series! Leo and King are so perfect together, (in an opposites attract/young and fun vs older and brooding kind of way!) Its amazing to watch King loosen up as Leo spends more time in his life!
The narration is perfect! Boudreaux did such a good job with giving each man a unique voice making it easy to follow and fun to listen to! This book is one to check out, and especially if you love the series, it is not one to miss!

The perfect end to an awesome series! 5+ stars!

I admit it: I cried by the time I finished listening to this audiobook, which is saying something because I'd already shed tears when I'd read the eBook back in February. I hate saying goodbye to any series I've grown an attachment to, but when it's a series that I've become absolutely addicted to? Well, the tears speak for themselves. King's story was the one I'd waited for from the moment he first made his presence known in the series starter, and every single time he was in any of the books, the man made it impossible to not be noticed, not when his protectiveness and loyalty to those he considered family was always on display. With the three other Kings finally finding love, I was looking forward to Ward Kingston experiencing the same, and his unlikely but ultimately perfect partner was none other than computer genius

From the romance and suspense to the action and mystery, Charlie Cochet never fails to inject wit and humor to her books, and the same can be said for this newest audiobook. Greg Boudreaux, who narrates the entire series, did a fabulous job all throughout. With King and Leo's story, Boudreaux did Cochet's fantastic story justice by giving each of the characters--from King and Leo themselves to the rest of the peripheral and supporting characters--their own voices. Boudreaux's narration with Cochet's writing has been a winning combination four times over. The Diamond in the Rough audiobook was everything I could have wished for and then some. Five-plus stars. ♥
