Publisher's Summary
Diamonds and Pearl is a gritty, compelling novel from number-one Essence best-selling author K'wan.
They say that good girls like bad boys, and this was especially true for Pearl Stone, a child born of privilege to a drug baron and reputed killer known in the streets as Big Stone. Although the flashy, fast-paced nature of the streets calls to Pearl, she's been brought up to look but not touch. Yet when a young hustler named Diamonds crawls up from the swamps of Louisiana and sets up shop in New York City, everything Pearl was taught flies out the window.
Raised in the wild and schooled on the mean streets of New Orleans, Diamonds is no stranger to hard times and is willing to do whatever it takes to stay above the poverty line, including kill. When an armed robbery turns into mass murder, Diamonds is forced to flee New Orleans and lands in New York where he meets Pearl and, for the first time, finds something he craves more than wealth and power - love. As the stakes get higher, Diamonds has to push away his past if he's to grab hold of his future. But by doing so, will he show Pearl that not all that glitters is gold?

always love Cary Hite/K'wan combo
it was a good book. always expect between a K'wan/Cary combo. It was not as entertaining of some of his other ones. I did not get enough of the main character. he seemed interesting, but too vague.

this shyt is off the chain. Diamonds and pearls ah
Diamonds & Pearls love got him caught slipping. That old lady told his ass he'd have to pay the piper one day. I bet he didn't know it'd be this soon and by Fat Slims ass either.. Damn this book was good asf i know it'll have to be another one to back this book up it can't end like this my ass is too thirsty for more.. Vitas's ass is going to go ham about Diamonds ass being dead she won't sleep until she knows he's dead or alive and if he's dead whomever killed him will pay with their blood that's for sure. Hell I'm mad i wanted him stopped by being put in prison for the rest of his life not killed off that's way too easy for all the dirt he's done to people.. Kwan you better start writing another book about what's going down my mind won't rest until you do... Son you're a great writer. I don't know what inspired you to write this story but great job well done well done. And just when i thought I'd read the best book on street crime here you come with this book here with more excitement heart pounding thrills better than any I've read thus far.. Don't you let your number 1 fan down by not continuing this story I'll be the maddest number 1 fan LMBO.. So until then Lord bless his hands mind to get another book going on this Diamonds & Pearls I'm waiting Kwan...

Never disappointed by K'wan and Cary Hite.
The story was great, but Cary Hite brought the story to life. The ending left you wanting more. It seemed like K'wan ran out of time or something.

Kwan never disappoints
I'm very fond of his writing. He has a lot of characters so if you have a hard time keeping up with multiple characters this might be a challenge for you but the gritty Urban accounts are worth the trouble. Cary Hite is one of my favorite readers.

This book was a nice setup for the beginning of a new series. Good plot, character development, betrayal, naivete and violence.

Good Read
Sometimes the many characters are very hard to keep up with. The ending sucks though!

Suspenseful!
K'wan has done it again. This book reminded me of Animal because it was so good. As usual Cary narrated the book in a way that kept me listening. there were so many turns and twist plus unexpected people.
