In The Diana Chronicles, you will meet a formidable female cast and understand as never before the society that shaped them: among them, Diana's sexually charged mother, her bad-girl sister-in-law, Fergie, and, most formidable of them all, her mother-in-law, the Queen. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate "other woman" into this combustible mix, and it's no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.

Story
The relationship between Freddie Mercury and Jim Hutton evolved over several months in 1984 and 1985. Even when they first slept together, Hutton had no idea who Mercury was, and, when the star told him his name, it meant nothing to him. Hutton worked as a barber at the Savoy Hotel and retained his job and his lodgings in Sutton, Surrey, for two years after moving in with Mercury. He was never fully assimilated into Mercury's jet-setting lifestyle, but, from 1985 until Mercury's death in 1991, he was closer to him than anyone and knew all Mercury's closest friends.

Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Story
There is little more terrifying than those who hunt, stalk, and snatch their prey under the cloak of darkness. These hunters search not for animals, but for the touch, taste, and empowerment of human flesh. They are cannibals, vampires, and monsters, and they walk among us. These serial killers are not mythical beasts with horns and shaggy hair. They are people living among society, going about their day-to-day activities until nightfall. They are the Dennis Rader's, the fathers, husbands, church-going members of the community.

Publisher's Summary
The sensational biography of Princess Diana, now revised to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death.
When Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words was first published in 1992, it forever changed the way the public viewed the British monarchy. Greeted initially with disbelief and ridicule, the number-one New York Times best-selling biography has become a unique literary classic, not just because of its explosive contents but also because of Diana's intimate involvement in the publication. Never before had a senior royal spoken in such a raw, unfiltered way about her unhappy marriage, her relationship with the queen, her extraordinary life inside the House of Windsor, her hopes, her fears, and her dreams. Now, 25 years on, biographer Andrew Morton has revisited the secret tapes he and the late princess made to reveal startling new insights into her life and mind. In this fully revised edition of his groundbreaking biography, Morton considers Diana's legacy and her relevance to the modern royal family.
An icon in life and a legend in death, Diana continues to fascinate. Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words is the closest we will ever come to her autobiography.

Wonderful overall with one issue...
What made the experience of listening to Diana the most enjoyable?
Carolyn Langrishe's performance.
What did you like best about this story?
The excerpts in Princess Diana's own words.
Any additional comments?
The issue is the reading by Michael Maloney. He has a voice that sounds as if there is an adenoid issue or stuffed up nose. The actor John Welsh of "Duchess of Duke Street" had the same delivery. So very distracting.

Old Story Repackaged. Good Read though.
This new version is much the same as the 1992 original with addition of a commentary in Diana's words performed beautifully by Caroline Langrishe. No new surprises but a good read.
Andrew Morton does tend to accommodate the 'whims' of those that he is make the primary subject of his projects. I feel that he loves to write only 'the good' in order that he can curry favor and influence with those people of influence that he writes about. He turned Diana into some type of saint which I feel is unfortunate as she was, like all of us, most flawed. That is what made her so appealing. Of course England is a small country and many of us had an opportunity to meet her. She definitely could turn anyone speechless.
The description of Diana's relationship with her children was wonderful to revisit and personally I feel a good reason for reading this version of the book again.
Michael Maloney's performance is perfect as he has, like Morton a flat affect. This book would not work with someone who was bubbly and jumping off the page.
So if you are looking for something new then you will be disappointed but if you want to revisit a lovely lady taken too soon some twenty years ago then, perhaps, this may be for you.

IDK...disappointing?
This one started off really well...but then there were moments where I would constantly look at my app thinking, "is this looping? Didn't I hear that already? Didn't he say that already?" I was underwhelmed. Yes, it was insightful at times and YES I felt terrible for Diana and her sons at times but overall....it just wasn't GOOD to me :(

Interesting story, so-so narration
If you find yourself fascinated by stories of the royal family, and you want to know more, this is worth the read. I struggled with the male narrator, but Diana's story was interesting enough to get past that. While this is purely Diana's point of view, so you must take it with a grain of salt, it was still worthwhile to hear it from her perspective.

Close Up Look at the Princess of Wales ~4 stars~
Plot: Bio based on the "secret" tapes Diana smuggled to Andrew Morton. This is in several parts. Part one is based on the actual tapes of Princess Diana ...tapes smuggled out of Kensington Palace but it is *narration* of the tapes. Still fascinating. Part two is Morton writing with interviews and collected info. Part 3 is her death and the aftermath. This is a very good look at the life of Princess Diana. She was a lonely insecure woman who married a man she loved but proved his own wishes would always come first. The "third"person according to Diana was Camilla and the other woman made it impossible to work on a damaged relationship. I liked this book but a little shorter version would have been perfect.

Distracting narrator
Narrator had a cold for the first third of the book and was very distracting. Would have rather him wait until his cold passed before reading with an extremely obvious stuffed-up nose.
