It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. In The Diana Chronicles, you will meet a formidable female cast and understand as never before the society that shaped them: among them, Diana's sexually charged mother, her bad-girl sister-in-law, Fergie, and, most formidable of them all, her mother-in-law, the Queen. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate "other woman" into this combustible mix, and it's no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.

Meghan was 11 when she first advocated for women’s rights; a teenager when she worked in a soup kitchen feeding the homeless; a popular actress when she campaigned for clean water in Africa and passionately championed gender equality in a speech to a United Nations Women’s Conference. Even before she met Prince Harry, hers was an extraordinarily accomplished life. Meghan’s wedding to Harry was a joyful occasion, marking happiness at last for the Queen’s grandson who had captured our hearts 20 years earlier when he bravely walked behind his mother Diana’s coffin.

Reissued for the 20th anniversary of Diana's death, this sensational best seller is an explosive account of her life, from the man who was by her side throughout its most turbulent period. In 1981 Lady Diana Spencer was seen by many as a lifeline for the outdated Windsor line. But Diana didn't follow the script. Instead she brought a revolution. Patrick Jephson was Diana's closest aide and adviser during her years of greatest public fame and deepest personal crisis.

Publisher's Summary
The sensational biography of Princess Diana, now revised to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death.
When Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words was first published in 1992, it forever changed the way the public viewed the British monarchy. Greeted initially with disbelief and ridicule, the number-one New York Times best-selling biography has become a unique literary classic, not just because of its explosive contents but also because of Diana's intimate involvement in the publication. Never before had a senior royal spoken in such a raw, unfiltered way about her unhappy marriage, her relationship with the queen, her extraordinary life inside the House of Windsor, her hopes, her fears, and her dreams. Now, 25 years on, biographer Andrew Morton has revisited the secret tapes he and the late princess made to reveal startling new insights into her life and mind. In this fully revised edition of his groundbreaking biography, Morton considers Diana's legacy and her relevance to the modern royal family.
An icon in life and a legend in death, Diana continues to fascinate. Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words is the closest we will ever come to her autobiography.

Wonderful overall with one issue...
What made the experience of listening to Diana the most enjoyable?
Carolyn Langrishe's performance.
What did you like best about this story?
The excerpts in Princess Diana's own words.
Any additional comments?
The issue is the reading by Michael Maloney. He has a voice that sounds as if there is an adenoid issue or stuffed up nose. The actor John Welsh of "Duchess of Duke Street" had the same delivery. So very distracting.

IDK...disappointing?
This one started off really well...but then there were moments where I would constantly look at my app thinking, "is this looping? Didn't I hear that already? Didn't he say that already?" I was underwhelmed. Yes, it was insightful at times and YES I felt terrible for Diana and her sons at times but overall....it just wasn't GOOD to me :(

Old Story Repackaged. Good Read though.
This new version is much the same as the 1992 original with addition of a commentary in Diana's words performed beautifully by Caroline Langrishe. No new surprises but a good read.
Andrew Morton does tend to accommodate the 'whims' of those that he is make the primary subject of his projects. I feel that he loves to write only 'the good' in order that he can curry favor and influence with those people of influence that he writes about. He turned Diana into some type of saint which I feel is unfortunate as she was, like all of us, most flawed. That is what made her so appealing. Of course England is a small country and many of us had an opportunity to meet her. She definitely could turn anyone speechless.
The description of Diana's relationship with her children was wonderful to revisit and personally I feel a good reason for reading this version of the book again.
Michael Maloney's performance is perfect as he has, like Morton a flat affect. This book would not work with someone who was bubbly and jumping off the page.
So if you are looking for something new then you will be disappointed but if you want to revisit a lovely lady taken too soon some twenty years ago then, perhaps, this may be for you.

Good story but so much repetition
Though this book is not new there is a resurgence of interest in Diana and the royal family. There wasn’t much in here that wasn’t also on the Netflix documentary about her, however that was to be expected. The voice actors did a wonderful job but the same stories were told over and over again, sometimes word for word! I enjoy the style in which the author told the story, again just too much repetition, as if he needed the book to be longer and didn’t have any more content.

Extremely long
Even though the first parts of this book are interesting with Mr. Martin’s afterward which deals mostly with the death of princess Diana he goes on and on and on five chapters about basically the exact same thing I was so bored towards the end because I was hearing the same thing over and over and over again he was just using different words. He should’ve stopped long before that final chapter. The afterword should have been one maybe two chapters 1 instead of what seems like 100 chapters even though it’s only about five.
